Thread: DCs deny that it's a dream?

Hey guys, in my dreams the dream charaters deny the fact that it's really all a dream, or just plain ignore it. They turn nervous and try to correct me when i go lucid and tell them the truth, for example, one night I dreamed that I was in a huge glass dome, with some people i knew, i realized i was dreaming and told the closest person around me, she got nervous and said "no... this isnt a dream... it's not"

Has this type of thing happened to yous? Do your DCs deny that it's a dream?

P.S.: The same charater pulled me down before i could fly later in the same dream.

I don't think I've ever had a dream character deny it, but I've never asked them before. I tried talking to a couple dream character before though and they got real scared for no reason. One of them even had a chainsaw and he was scared because I said "Hi". My guess is some dream characters are just nuts.

No, although I haven't talked to DC's a lot. They're usually quite passive (and my lucids haven't been long and stable enough to interact with them a lot).

I have never talked to a dream character in a lucid dream before, so personally I've never experienced this.
However, I have heard a lot of people say that in a lucid dream, dream characters often deny that it's a dream, or tried to convince them they are actually awake.

I think this happens because during a lucid dream, something will happen if you expect it to. When you are awake and tell someone they are just a creation of your mind, you can expect them to deny it as well. You usually don't hear people say you are dreaming while you are awake, so this is also not likely to happen in a dream.

heh, that happens to me a lot, so I either don't tell them, or get prepared to show them proof of it being a dream.

My dream characters have always been very supportive of me when I realise I am dreaming. I was once on a bus full of my friends and RC'd and they all said 'Finally!' as though they'd been waiting for me to become lucid. I've had a celebration where I was told I was dreaming and that it was 'That Stupidly Long Lucid You've Been Waiting For!' (which was very short lived ) and I've had a DC walk up to me and just plain tell me 'You know you're dreaming, right?' causing me to RC, and then he even reminded me to do the task of the month!

Don't be afraid of your DC's, they're always going to be around your dreams and even if they're scared they will help you!

I hear about this all the time. You would be surprised it is quite common. It has actually happened to me a few times.

DC: No..
Me: Really? There is a flying giraffe right in front us us.
DC: Nononononono just a projector..

My dream characters sometimes deny it's a dream, sometimes are very supporting.

DCs arent't always the most reliable sources. A friend of mine once told a dream in which he bought something in a shop. He got a three euro bill for change and he says to a DC wait a second, there are no three euro bills. His DC is like, sure there are.
Missed opportunity for lucidity

DCs are mostly irritating when I have lucids but sure they vary. In one lucid I announced that I was lucid and started increasing vividness and one of the DCs I was with was just mocking me the whole time at which point I commanded a less annoying DC to behead him.
I think it's related to my view of people in waking life. Generally I'm quite antisocial and can't stand to be bothered which causes me social anxiety. This likely creates a negative expectation which is met by negative events in dreams. Also, people I find more irritating in waking life are more likely to attempt to hinder me in a dream.

It seems as though when I am lucid, the DC's often deny that it is a dream. But sometimes when I am not lucid, my DC's tell me that it is a dream and I am the one who denies it. So I can understand their denial.

Eh who cares what they think. This is very common, usually I just punch them or walk away ^_^

I tried shooting, beating, and running from the DCs who were trying to stop me. They had unusual force and I couldn't get away. After blowing them up and collapsing my dream, I never saw them again until exactly one year later at the same time of night, on the same date. I found this out weeks after dreaming it after referring to my DJ.

Now, I don't believe in entities, but sometimes you've gotta wonder if more than just your mind is at work. Hahahah.

actully a DC was the reason why i didn't get lucid in a dream,i was talking with him when i wanted to do an RC,and he gives a good slap !!!!i entered in a discusion with him and forgot about the RC

The DC version of my mother got aggressive and dangerous whenever I'd say I was in a dream, or tried to do "lucid dreamer activities". Eventually she attempted to sedate and hurt me. I posted it in the dream gallery in 2009, the only way of escape was to drop a nuke bomb that destroyed so much the dream collapsed lol.

My mom is always a crazy ass bitch in my dreams too! Whenever I tell her im dreaming she tries to hurt me and I get the sense she is jealous of me being in a dream. She follows me like a child other times and I have to push her or kick her to make her go away but she always comes back.... lol I feel bad but damn it's f*ing annoying

Haha wow glad I'm not alone. I wonder why this happens?

I really need to tell someone I'm dreaming in my next lucid. The results sound very entertaining.

Look at this in reverse for a minute - if you were somebody's subconscious and they were going lucid and trying to steal your thunder, who would you present as an authority figure to try to guilt them out of it? Who better than their mom, right?

Though I've never had a DC deny a dream, I did recently have a DC tell me that dreams are 100% real. He made some good points:

"This is a dream, but who's to say dream aren't reality? This is all real. Right now, your brain is still sending signals to your body and itself. Your heart is beating in here, as well as in your physical body, lying in your bed. What you're seeing, hearing, feeling. What you're smelling and even tasting, is all going into your memory. Saying this dream isn't real is like saying memories aren't real. You remember going snowboarding last night, right?" (I did go snowboarding last night) "That was real, wasn't it? But all it is now is just a memory, and soon, this will just be a memory. Saying this dream isn't real is like saying everything that has ever happened isn't real, and who are you to say what is and isn't reality?"

This guy really made me think about stuff. He might've been my DG but idk. I'll have to look for him later on in my dreams. Maybe if I have a lucid tonight

I wish my DC's were like that. Or maybe i just need to find my DG O.O

Not here, my mother doesn't really understand lucid dreaming entirely, but she wants to be able to get lucid more often.
