Not sure. Drinking in a dream could fool you for a little while, but the thirst won't go away, since it's not a dream thirst, it's waking life thirst. Maybe you had your mouth opened when dreaming of drinking and that got your mouth dry.
Could be similar to dreams, when you looking for a restroom, because you have an urge to 'go'. I always find dozens of restrooms, but it's either dirty, has no walls, or some other reason, why I can't use it, and when I finally get to use one, I don't feel relief.
