      Anybody revisit old dreams?

Something that I've wanted to do for a long time, is revisit old non-lucid dream settings. Usually the dreams I have, I really like the place, and when i wake up, i sort of.. miss it. I want to revisit it, but i can't. I've been lucid dreaming for quite some time now, but never seem to be able to recreate the dreams I want to.

Anybody else ever have any luck?

I've done it a few times whilst non-lucid. It's very... homey. Strange feeling. It's like you remember the place almost fondly, that is, if it was a good dream. I go lucid whenever I have nightmares, so I don't know the feeling of revisiting an old nightmare setting.

I am so gonna do this xD i have had some crazy and amazing non lucids in the past that i think would be fun to re visit
      From my rotting body,
      flowers shall grow
      and I am in them
      and that is eternity.

I have really tried, but I don't think it is 100% possible or at least not for me. Non-lucid dreams look different than lucid ones since in lucids, you notice all the detail and can enhance it or mold it to your current thoughts. I have tried to revisit this beautiful garden that I flew to once, but it didn't look the same and it changed to mesh with my current thoughts. I think you have to have the same chain of thoughts to recreate a dream which seems impossible. Otherwise, it will change with your current train of thought and emotions.

Dare I say this and if this does not belong on this site I completely understand, but I do think some of you will find it interesting:

The one time I tripped on psychadelic mushrooms, while walking around my starlit neighborhood in a completely different state of consciousness I had the most beautiful realization. I had the oddest sense of deja vu mixed with pure reflection. I felt like I was a child taking my first steps, yet I felt so at home. Then it hit me....I was seeing a dream I had at a very young age. I now lived in a different neighborhood than I did at the time of this dream, but it definitely felt like I had been here a long time ago and it looked exactly the same as it did in this dream. When I had it, the dream occured in a very deep sleep, I never thought I would ever recover it but it was so beautiful. It was one of those non-lucids that you don't recall even when you first wake up, yet I was remembering it for the first time. It was more about the feeling than the visual aspect, hard to explain. But I was there in my subconscious aided by a phychadelic drug the same way that your mind is open in a conscious-altering way in dreams. I saw the sidewalk I walked in this dream, watched the trees seem to vibe with me along my journey, and watched the stars dance. It may sound like nonsense but to me it was real. The same kind of experience happened to me during a salvia trip a few years later with another deeply embedded dream from my childhood.

Not saying you have to use drugs, but to me this showed me that every dream is stored in our memories somewhere. You just have to be in the right mindset with the right timing to access them. If this post offends anyone feel free to delete, I understand. Just saying there is more capabilities our mind has than we know.

very intersting experience to be sure, and quite beautiful!
I am actaully one who would advocate the responsible use of mind altering substances by adults since i am extremely intersted in that area of reserah, as it applies to the origins of religion , of gods etc and how indeed these experiecnes are parralleled by those beings called fairys, aliens and demons etc..
but anywho, that is a life changing experience you had and as i read it i could envision it, it was almost like a deja vu!
those kind of experiences, although amazing and life changing, may be intended to only happen the once, rather then revisiting them,,,
      great share

Well I learned to become lucid from a recurring dream so yeah. but more recently I have had a few non lucid dreams that have been in the same setting seperated almost in real time. As in I go to sleep one night and have a dream. the next night I have another dream in the same setting and the dream time is a night after the first dream.
I accept that my reality is always a dream so if something changes I know I'm right.

Lately I've been having really vivid non-lucid dreams in environments where I've been before in a dream that don't exist in real life. I'll remember the layout of the place I'm in and even remember the right and wrong path to take because of previous experience. It's very interesting and has almost led to me LDing

I find it hard to answer your questions, I always find myself staring at that cat for a few minutes.
I can't say I have, but if you want to, why don't you do your dream control magic, walk through a door, portal, mirror, and say to yourself "I will walk through here, and I will end up in, bla bla bla"
If you can control your dreams to every extent, why is this not easily possible?

Not exactly sure, whenever I seem to be lucid, I can never remember the dreams landscape. Until I wakeup, then I can close my eyes and remember them almost perfectly. Its strange but.. just thought Ide throw it out there.

I kept having a re-occurring dream from 6-13 every now and then foretelling my dad's death. They stopped when he died.
Goodnight and good luck. On and onwards, dreamers!

^ That's amazing..it actually foretold the future? And I've had reoccuring, real-time dreams as well but I have a hard time revisiting old dreams on purpose. I only return to old dreamscapes in non-lucids. When I try to revisit old ones lucidly, they look different.

Likewise!! Many would say those are "trashy" drugs, but they are natural and when used responsibly by the user can be very eye-opening. I agree these are one-time moments of happenstance and each experience changed my perspective on this beautiful life for the better. Thank you for your interest rather than judgement I hope for the same enlightening experiences for you!

Wow, this is such a great idea! Revisiting some nightmares that scared the crap out of me before could be fun to revisit when lucid. Turn the tables on the nightmare

no problem, we have become as a race so disconnected with reality, so separte from nature(even though we ARE nature!) and so conditioned by big government and society that we cringe at the mere mention of "drugs" or any kind of altered state of conciousness!
This is an ancient, natural and imo important part of human experience, we simply cannot pretend to be a free individula unless we have freedom over our own conciousness! simple as that..

We cannot allow others to tell us what we can and cannot put into our own bodies! I mean, the most powerfull hallucinogen known to man, DMT, is both a grade one illiegal drug but at the same time it is produced in the human body! hmmm, so its illegal to consume a chemical compound that is alredy in your body!

interestingly though, one must wonder why such a compound that is so called "hallucinogenic" is produced within the body at all, some belie it mediates the NDE experinece and is a mechanism for our brains to change channels so to speak, i.e that those realms shamans visit under teh influence are indeed real separate realities(the consistency is mind blowing!!)..

oh and this grade 1 "drug" is obviously strangely important becuase the brain goes out of its way to spend rescources sheparding it across the blood brain barrier!!!

there is a mystery, we must not close ourselves to that.

      sorry for the long answer..

funny that every night we all enter the strangest altred states when we sleep!

A recurring character from my childhood dreams has actually re-appeared in my current dreams, which I really enjoy because she's amazing.
Apart from that I have once relived a childhood dream.
I was sort of watching it from above, seeing my childhood self progressing through a dream I only barely remembered.
It was very odd seeing my childhood self, but a very interesting experience nevertheless.
      Dreams are simple.
It's the painfully simple things the human mind cannot comprehend.
After all your mind is trained to understand the complexity of the waking world,
not the simplicity of the dream world.
