      Accessing Memories

I have heard that the subconscious records absolutely everything. And that people's faces and places we've been to are the main focus for our dreams. With enough control, could someone access memories? I've only been on this planet 15 years and even I have moments I want to see again, vividly. Has anyone done this?

I have never tried to access my memories and I have never read of anyone trying to do what you describe. It might be possible. You will just need to try and find out.

It may very well be possible considering your dream can recreate environments in detail.

I've heard many speak of the idea relating to portals, control rooms, and the like, but I don't believe I've heard of anyone accomplishing this goal. It's my number one goal at the moment, but I am by no means an experienced LDer. One of the main problems with doing this is the planting of false memories. So, if you do end up summoning a forgotten memory, take it with a grain of salt until you confirm it with someone who was there.

This is something I have really wanted to try.

My friend and I were talking about it, and he created a fictional place for me to go in the dreamscape. He called it the MDRC (Memory Distribution and Recollection Center). His idea was pretty smart because it created a "concrete" place in the dreamscape for me to go to so I can access the memories, instead of improvising and getting distracted.

I mapped it on my dream cartography in a hidden location. This helped me establish a firm goal.

The biggest problem I have with this, however, is that I feel that I cannot trust the memories that I may see. Have you ever had a dream where you are convinced that you possess abilities that you don't? I once had a dream that a stranger told me that if I ran around in circles I could instantly induce a lucid dream. In the dream I actually remembered doing this activity when I was a child. For the first few seconds when I awoke I believed it, but a solid few minutes later reality and logic came back in. I had never 'ran around in circles to induce a lucid dream' in my life. It was a false memory.

What I am saying is that while I think it's a good idea and more power to you, I would be skeptical of what you see. Take it lightly because your subconscious might be confabulating.

well I think the problem might be that your subconscious records EVERYTHING in the same way. for instance dreams are treated exactly the same as memories so it would be hard to tell the difference between actual memories versus dreams or ideas.

Thanks for the support and ideas, as I get better at this I'll try. I'm also going to edit my signature now, this is my number one goal. I'll bump up this thread when the time comes, it might be a while.

Hopefully you can shed some light on this. A lot of people ask the question but never attempt to answer it. I will also try to do this.

I remember dream chaining awhile back and I had lost my lucidity and woke up. When I went back into my dreams in blank black state, I was able to set back a digital clock, which represents the time of the dream I had lost lucidity in. I was set back a couple minutes and re-entered; everything was the same, replaying. Anyway, considering this experience makes me think that reliving memories in dreams is very probable. Best of luck.

This just got me intrested in a new goal, but going deeper.... some people beleive they have had OBE's (outer body experiences) during NDE's (Near death experiences), imagine you could access the memory of this OBE or NDE and sit and evaluate it at different angles? like a third person thing? like a movie?
I've had more than enough NDEs are different points of my life and if i was possible to access the memory of it then it would be pretty cool to see it unfolded within a dream world.
