Do Colors have any effect on dreams?

The only time I have had a lucid dream was during a period where I LOVED to fall asleep and dream. I didn't know what Lucid Dreaming was at the time, it was just fun for me, better than going to the movies. Everything in my room at the time was blue, from the walls to the bedding on my sheets. I had a girlfriend a few years back that told me about "chakras" and said that the "mind's eye chakra" was blue in color. I, myself, am more scientific than spiritual but that always stuck in my mind. Has anyone heard anything about colors affecting your dreams in this way?

Well my dreams tend to be stylized if that's what you mean. I don't think I've experienced one color tinting everything I see but I never see in dreams the same way I do in real life. It always either slightly desaturated, or maybe higher contrast, the white balance is off, something that makes the dream look like a movie.

      Clarification

I just re read my post and can see how what I said wasn't clear.

Everything in my waking life bedroom was the color blue. Not in my dreams. My dreams were normal dreams for me.

I was hoping for information about colors in the Waking Life world affecting your ability to dream.

OOOOH. I see. I've never had that ever affect me actually. try sleeping in another room that's a different color. Maybe that'll do something different?

The room I sleep in is BRIGHT orange, and it hasn't seemed to affect my dreams.

Don't think I've ever noticed a difference. But then again, I don't think I've had a room that wasn't white for a while; had a purple room a while ago but can't remember if dreams were any different.

And btw, purple is usually considered the third eye chakra; blue is throat.

I just googled it and you're right. The dreams I had in that room were the most intense I had ever had so I thought their might be some correlation. Maybe I'll repaint my room blue once I start begin to LD on a regular basis.

Yea but third eye is usually associated with dreams, APs, OBEs, and all that kind of jazz.

Instead of actually repainting our rooms, do you think maybe wearing a bright/dark blue sleep mask would work? We could test it out and see the results.

If anyone is still following this thread I just read something interesting in "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" by my man LeBerge.

"One of these, the throat chakra, is said to regulate sleep and wakefulness. The degree of activation of the throat chakra is reputed to determine whether wakefulness, sleep, or dreaming occurs."

And since my whole room was painted blue, and I was told by my new age ex-girlfriend that surrounding yourself with a particular color would affect that color chakra in a positive way, that maybe my decorating DID indeed affect the intensity of my dreams.

      We'll see...

I'm sure scientifically that the atmosphere of where your sleeping affects dreams, including colors. I'm pretty sure its been scientifically established that sounds can affect dreaming so I see no reason why color can't affect dreams whether it being in the form of various light levels or just memories of the room's color.
