Hi, I'm new here. I've been having regular lucid dreams (almost every night) for the past several months, and am getting fairly adept at it. But I am having troubles falling asleep to begin with. I figure that some people here are knowledgeable at certain techniques to induce sleep faster.

For me it usually takes between 2 to 3 hours to fall asleep from when I go to bed. I am diagnosed with insomnia and ADD so it is naturally difficult for me in the first place, because when I try to empty my mind, thoughts and sounds come rushing at me, until eventually I am able to lower my brainwaves to a stable theta state, where I begin to notice hypnagogic sounds and imagery in the forms of random sentences from voices not my own and seeing slight hallucinatory images, until eventually I fall into a sleep.

I am wondering if anyone here has any advice to offer on how to fall asleep in the first place. I've tried different techniques but can't seem to fall asleep any faster. I always look forward in expectation to my lucid dreams I have almost every night (or extremely vivid dreams) but am held back by my lack of ability to fall asleep.

Thanks for any help. I know this isn't lucid dream related, but would certainly help me in my ability to harness my ability to sleep and dream, thus giving me a better chance to control my dreaming.
