Smile Most amazing experience ever while attempting WILD

So at 3:30 (hour and a half ago) I started preparing for a day-time WILD.

First I went in my room and turned off all the lights and closed the shades, completely dark. I sat there for what I felt was a ridiculously long time (probably a half hour or less).

After that, I laid down and didn't move at all, started count and visualizing "1, I'm dreaming. 2, I'm dreaming etc..."

I did that for about 20 minute until I decided to start over in a better position (Was having swallowing/breathing problems. Tips appreciated)

In the new position I rolled over, my mouth was open (allowing drainage) and I was breathing through my nose.

This position was working for me. I counted to about 150 until I lost count. Then I just started to think about dreams. (Thinking that would allow me to enter them like a VILD)

Well after a while of that I went back to just conceptualizing counting (couldn't count anymore) and everything started going numb. I couldn't feel my body at all and my heart rate skyrocketed.

I figured I was in SP because I also saw some lights

This is when random ALMOST dreams started to happen, but they never caught hold.

I did that for a while, then decided to just let my mind fall asleep without moving, hoping that would work.

A bit after that my body swallowed randomly for me, but nothing went down. Kinda like the opposite of a gag...Idk. Soon after that my eyes forced open.

I got up, and it was 5.

Overall I think it was pretty successful for a second try, but no cigar

The first few times you experience something new, you probably won't get much further because our minds tend to over analyze the experience and/or get excited. Both things can kill the focus required to get into a WILD.

BUT that means you ARE making progress... when those things happen next time, try to go with the flow rather than think about what's happening.

Very good! You were the closet you could possibly be! You should hit a dream the next time you WILD.

I think you would be glad to know that it's OK to swallow. It's not well-known, but you can swallow.

      Good luck!

But won't swallowing let you're body know your mind isn't asleep? (if it's an intentional swallow I mean)

I could see where it would be like breathing, it's a semi-controllable feature of the body, so your body has no way of telling if its you consciously swallowing or just you being asleep and your body swallowing for you.

And one more thing, when I'm sitting there in a half dream, how do I get it to the point where I am the center of the dream, where it doesn't take so much work to try and stay in it

Just sit back and wait. If you do want to move in it you have to move with your mind, similar to a 3rd person game. If it's really bad, you have to see it in your head, also. Those are never fun to hold up, so just wait for it to come into focus and stabilize.

Alright thanks, because thats my main problem. The transition from SP into LD'ing.
Thats exactly what I was doing btw, imagining a dream and being in it and then just letting them go and waiting again

OK, I will borrow something from the Wiki for you. Something called "the void", infinite blackness, may come up on you when the dream is forming, or the dream may just be plain forming, so this might help.

      Linear Acceleration

This is another technique that is useful for getting you out of the "void"; which is the vast emptiness that you might find yourself floating around in after a lucid dream ends but you have not yet woken up. Simply begin accelerating yourself forward through the blackness. Your goal is to accelerate at such speeds that you will tear through the blackness and find yourself in a new dreamscape.

Wait so what this means is that if I am in SP and a dream has not yet formed, I so to speak "accelerate" through the darkness as fast as I can until I land in a dream?

Yeah, but it's theoretical (my suggested application to it), so there's a chance it may not work.

If you have to swallow, swallow and don't put it off. By not swallowing you spend WAY more time thinking about it, and then you eventually have to do it anyway. It's 10 times more disastrous to a lucid dream transition worrying about it. The body swallows all the time naturally while sleeping, just swallow and get it over with. Try not to think about it too much.

The whole thing is new to me it just felt amazing being able to go into SP on purpose.

When I was a kid I used to wake up in the morning, I could move at all and it was pretty f'ing scary. I eventually forced myself to move. Now that I know what it is, it's pretty awesome to me that I can just do that.

Wait till you have your first LD! You have to come up with a word that is better than "most amazing"

Swallowing is okay as long as you dont pay much attention to it. And dont stress over seeing things and going numb. Just act like everything is normal. But think everything is normal. If that makes sense.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

Meeshu, congrats on getting close! Some weeks ago I had a similar experience: I got into the SP (like yours, my heart was pounding), saw colors, then couldn't feel my body. I even experienced the big black void Snowboy talked about -- I had never been in it before, but it was distinct and unmistakable. That's when I snapped out of it, because I was so excited to be in that void! And I agree -- even though I didn't quite achieve my goal, it was amazing to be so close.

I'm glad the swallowing issue has been addressed here, since that has been my main problem in my WILD attempts as well. Now I will start trying again. Also, thanks to Snowboy for the tips on getting out of the void, I will remember that now that I'll be renewing my attempts.

I've never had a problem with swallowing. I just get myself into a position where saliva will naturally drain down my throat and I'm good to go.

That always happens to me, I can never pass into a dream. I just lay there seeing lights and then they eventually fade away just as it seems like I'm about to fall asleep. >_< Anyways, congratz on making it this far; hope you have a WILD soon.
