      The Blue Light

      Hello all,

I haven't been on DV in ages as I've just started uni so I've been moving in, settling in, writing essays etc.

It's been a fun and challenging experience but unfortunately my dedication to having a lucid and my sleeping pattern in general has really suffered.

Anywho I'm back (some would say with a vengeance) to try and nail my first proper LD. I've bought some galantamine and choline and when it comes I shall be trying that alongside my usual RC's and so on.

I just wanted to share with you all an experience I had last night and see what you had to say/if you've experienced something similar?

I was going to bed last night and as I've found recently I'm not used to this new bed I was tossing and turning never quite getting comfortable enough to catch some zzzs. As I found a comfortable spot I automatically got REALLY comfortable and closed my eyes. As I felt my mind wandering and my body relaxing I saw the most fantastic blue light. It was electric blue in thick blobs and was moving across my eyes at slow pace. I meditate a fair amount so I'm used to seeing circles of light in intense relaxation but this was something I've never experienced. As soon as I focused on this light it slowly disappeared but kept re-appearing until I fell asleep.

I was just wondering if anyone had experienced this before?

      Sorry for the essay

I think this is normal sleep onset hypnagogia, more properly said: phosphenes. Isnīt it ?

If you focus too much or too hard it disappears or becomes less intense, but as long as you stay aware and relaxed it comes again and again and can become more and more vivid. This can indeed be used as a WILD technique, which i sometimes do, although i never had direct dream entry ( mostly because of excitement ), but somehow it helps to achieve DILD or OBE after you fall asleep. I remember i started a post about this some time ago. A very interesting effect that can happen with this is the so called black hole effect, but it is also fun to just contemplate the void after the light forms disappear and before they return again once i got the feeling that i was in deep space, in the midst of the stars
Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way
