      Chains of False Awakenings

False awakening, am I using the term right? When you think you've woken up from a dream but you're still in a dream?

What was your longest chain? I mean, in a single dream, how many dreams did you think you woke up from? Like, a dream inside a dream inside a dream, etc?

I remember, the one and only time was when I was really little, like four. I dreamed I was getting chocolate out of the Christmas calendar in the morning, when I got the feeling I woke up and I was back in bed. I ran through for more chocolate. This repeated a good seven or eight times, waking up and running through for chocolate - each time with a different amount of chocolate left. Some times there was none, other times it was almost empty, sometimes full. It didn't seem to matter which order it was in.

Apparently my mum had a similar experience before, since I was born.

How about your longest chain of thinking you've woken up in the same dream?

Your post puts me in mind of the Calvin and Hobbs cartoon where Calvin gets out of bed, falls from a great height, smashes into the ground, and awakens in bed only to repeat the cycle several more times.

Personally, I've never had dreams or FAs nested more than three deep.

once i had it happen like 5 or 6 times in one dream. In the dream i kept waking up in my bed and felt this horrible presence right outside of my room. I would reach to turn on the lamp beside me and it wouldnt turn on. Then something would rush in and attack me. This happened over and over untill finally when i awoke i had to reach over and try the lamp to see if would work. Luckly it did cause i would have been terrified otherwise.

I had about 4 or 5 in a row once.

It took me long enough, but eventually it helped me to become lucid because everytime I "woke up" my room was arranged differently.

There's just something about FA's that are really fascinating to me. Perhaps because they remind me of Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland, which is a classic.

The feeling you get when you realize you haven't actually woken up is pretty unique...almost like deja vu.

Dear gods. That is horrible. And you didn't get lucid off a single one?

If you get a lot of false awakenings, you can take advantage of them by RCing every time you wake up in the morning. Eventually it will become habit to RC every time you wake, and then all those false awakenings will be like free lucids.

The most I've ever had was probably three or four in the same dream. In the same night, probably 9 or more. I used to have FAs every single night several times a night regularly, but sadly I stopped so I had to change some things to make sure I'd still get lucid.

I was lucid the entire time! It was kind of a lucid nightmare and I was trying to wake myself up. Bad times!
