Opening your eyes during a dream

One time I was having a weird dream about school, and they kept saying on how to wake up from it, like they knew it was a dream too, this was before I knew about lucid dreaming of course, but they said to try and open your eyes during this dream, so I tried it and I saw my room, but it was pretty dark and I could actually see the dream overlapping the real world but it was kinda transparent. I could also see some very weird lines that looked like brain cells. I'm still confused to this day on how that works. Has anyone else tried this or anything? I know it wasn't actually part of my dream because I could actually feel my eyes open and such. I also tried this a long time ago when I saw a scary dog in my dream and I had the same experience but that time I was able to open my eyes all the way and be awake again. Very weird...

this has also happend to me. I think it might be a kind of false awakening. It always makes me jump out of shock if i wake up and see something next to me in my bed from the dream.

I have had this happen too. I dreamed there were large spiders on my ceiling, and when I woke up and looked, I could still see them crawling around! As I came to a bit better though, they disappeared into thin air.
I often open my eyes and see my room and the dream at the same time. It ussually isn't a problem though, I just go back to dreaming.

I get the overlap of the images from dreaming to the real world often.
The reason: I usually sleep with my eyes open.
It generally creeps people out to see this.

I normally have many false awakenings. The ones I have that start from the image of my room

(I guess because I am actually IRL looking at my room ceiling through my dry eyes)
I play broccoli with checkers every night.
