Hmmm, now you mention it, I don't think I've ever actually seriously injured someone in an 'evil' way. I've had dreams where my intention has become evil, or I turn evil, but never actually get around to hurting anyone.

Once a shot someone (with a paper gun). I was kinda evil at the time, but then he didn't die, I felt bad and it became more of a nightmare. I tried to kill him quickly. He wouldn't die, instead he just sat there and whined about his pain. :\

It was a bit wierd, but whatever. ^^

These dreams make me feel fucked up.

But I have had a couple where I was going around killing people. I wasn't me in the dream. In one I was some sort of weird like fairy princess thing it was very strange. In the dream it was just like... my nature to be doing it (I was stabbing people or pulling them apart or something) and I didn't think anything of it. When I woke up I was really disturbed but figured... it's just a dream, who cares.

I've had like 2 or 3 of those in my life and they always weird me out, just because of the stigma about dreams like that. As far as I know they mean nothing, and as long as I'm doing it my dreams and not RL I'm fine with it, since the feelings during the dream are not very scary. It's not a nightmare until I wake up, and even then it's just mildly disconcerting.

Ive had dreams where i went killing people by ripping them appart/slicing/cutting/stabbing, somtimes lmao doin so. My last murder dream was a few days ago where i had a stick and clubbed a teacher till he died.
I have met my dark side a few times face to face, wich was a bit scary but cool.

In my vision of this subject, our Dark side is our Ego.
The self being part consciousness and part Ego.

Ego is the layer between our consciousness and Reality which makes us view reality in a distorted, delusional, self centered way.
It is my goal to destroy the Ego and it's nasty traits of Self-importance, greed, jealousy, Pride, Control and, above all, it's Ignorance.
Our Egos are the cause of our suffering and the suffering we cause others.
Without our Ego we are free from this unnececairy suffering.

My view of Ego is mostly based on the Buddhist view of Ego, however our Egoist culture has prefered the Greek philosophy term of Ego; Self. That's why most people that speak of the Ego mean the Self. And what a pittyfull thing to identify with the foul being that is our Ego.

SKA, I think he was just asking about people's 'dark side'. I don't see it being pittyfull, I think your taking his choice for words too seriously. Its just a topic and something to talk about. But I do agree with some of what you are saying. I don't know if it was intended, or if I'm taking it the wrong way, but I got the impression you were taking this too seriously, like its disgraceful (or, 'pittyfull').

Oh boy here I go. I've had several of these dark dreams before. My earliest one being a few days ago, where some punks where taunting and jeering at me, and I jumped into the middle of their group (there was about 8 of em) and attacked em. It was extremely gory. I remember the last person I attacked, I pounced on him, knocking him to his back, tore out his throat with my bare hand, and ate it.

Of course, I already know why I have this alter ego, a lot of it has to do with surpressed frustration from my earlier schooling years, round elementary school - middle school. Kids at those ages can be especially brutal.

Most interesting. I have a dark side. I wrote about it in my last dream journal entry here and it took everything in me to admit the things I did and I wont repeat it here lol.
The interesting thing though, is that I never encounter that dark self in my dreams.
Don't get me wrong, I have dreams that reveal disturbing things about myself, but they are always hum-drum and basic in nature.
Whenever I kill someone in a dream it's always in self-defense and I feel terrible about it afterwards to such an extent that it usually wakes me up.
I have an incredibly passive and empathetic personality. It's against the essence of my nature to act on any dark tendencies in my dreams because my dreams are as real to me as life itself.
I fiercly repress my darkside 95% of the time. And I loathe myself when I give in to dark fantasies.

But this is MOST interesting. I've taken this topic much too seriously lol Perhaps I'm just sleepy and waining philosophical. I want to meet my dark side face to face and find out why she exists (my dark side is a 4-7 year old girl). Even more interesting is the fact that I have very few memories of those years. Perhaps the stupid phycological/parenting test I took was true and I really am repressing memories.
So now I have a test for myself. I'm not sleeping tonight and I won't sleep tomorrow until about this time. When I do crash I will be thoroughly exhausted physically and emotionally (I have to see the cops tomorrow- err this- morning about some accusations of abuse or something and then I see my sons at the shelter they've been placed in). When I go to sleep I'm going with the determination of meeting my evil twin and trying to see what she has to say. And even if I don't meet her, I'll pay attention to the message of the dream because it could still be relevant.

After I read Musashi Miyamoto's book of Five rings, I had a dream where I went around challenging people in sword duels. If they resisted me, I'd slice them up. If they fought back, I'd slice them up. I remember the dream being really long, and killing many people. It was actually kindda cool.

I've had one like you are talking about that I can remember.
I was looking through a airvent type situation into a room where all of the males from my past, ex boyfriends or just people who caused me grief and and a few anonymous faces and my current fiance were sitting around on broken pipes talking very intimately about some stuff that made me mad.
I got so mad that I snuck into the room and started snapping necks and ripping off heads and castrating everyone I could get my hands on, I even caught my current fiance and ripped off his left leg (left him alive). The rest of the dream was me hunting down the survivors and murdering them, I was really terrified about the whole situation when I woke up but at the time it was pretty satisfying.

But on a different possibly related topic, I think I met my shadow-self (as in Carl Jung's shadow theory) in a dream. In fact I think that my reoccuring nightmare is me trying to flee from my shadow.
It shows up as a shadowy pale little girl or sometimes grown woman with long black hair and creepy noises (think "the grudge"). I usually am terrified either way, but usually I try to help out the little girl and sometimes she is almost benevolent but when the adult comes around I always just bolt and try everything I can to flee (most of the time when I lucid dream it's to get away from her).
When I read about shadow selves the other day I just about facepalmed. It's so obvious now!
Anyways, I couldn't find another topic for shadowselves and this topic was almost related. Sorry if I got off track.

I could say that I have NEVER dreamed of killing somebody or doing harm to someone intentionally, but when I start getting lucid, my wishes become very dark (not killing somebody, but other things that I am too ashamed of to say).

Lucid dreaming brings an other me, an ruthless and psychotic asshole that doesn't care about everyone else.

I don't know what would cause this mentality while lucid, because that's definitely not my real personality.

Once I had a dream about killing some guy (drowned him in a swamp), but I think there was a pretty justifiable reason for it.

Recently, though, I had a dream that started off with me choking the life out of this puppy. It felt really good in the dream, but when I woke up, I was kind of just...yeah.

I've had lots of experiences like this. Most recently, I dreamed I was a serial killer, killing random people for no good reason. I have a feeling these types of dreams are just our subconcious' way of venting.

My alt. ego usually involves me beating the crap out of people.

What I find interesting is that a lot of people wish to believe that their darker tendencies come from an "alter ego", or "other self". Whether or not that can be definitively proven is up for debate, but the wish to separate evil from the self is quite apparent, even when "evil" is observably coming from the mind of the individual. Subconscious venting is another proposition I've read amongst the replies, which sounds like as good a guess as any.

All the same, I've enjoyed reading what has thus far been shared, and I've taken each post into account with just as much interest as the next. I appreciate the time those have taken to type out the more extended explanations as well.

I'd like to hear more.

I constantly have "Visions" sort of speak of me doing evil things the only reason i know its an evil alter ego is because it then displays me separating into 5 beings one savage and ugly one brave and wears a a hat one is full of rage and old fashion and one is plain old me than there is one in chains and lots of them being the EVIL one

I was in a black suit. Black fedora as well. Sitting on a black wooden chair with a gray lightning streak crackle on it. In front of me is myself, but in a white suit, white fedora and red eyes. He smiles at me and looks up, i look up with him and the sun combines with the moon and turns blood red. We both look at each other and i see behind him figures i dreamed of previously, but with another feature. They are blue ghost like figures with a black aura, and they are very negative feeling. The new feature is a monster like mouth that goes half way across their heads with a demonic like tongue. It seems as if an army of them is behind my alter self and he points at me, saying "I control you now!" And the ghost like things run into me, and i seem to absorb them, but it makes my suit and skin gray and fog like. Misty. Then i look back at my alter self and his red eyes flash and i wake up.
