      REM and LD

Hey im new to the forum, some of you may have seen some posts or replys ive done. anyway i have a question.
An easy way to LD, well i say easy, ive had a couple from this, is when you wake up, going back to sleep. it seems to get you into an LD easier than randomly through the night. but this cant be REM sleep because its not deep enough.
Therefore LDing isnt just in REM sleep is it?

Actually, REM sleep is not a very deep level of sleep at all. Your brainwaves are very similar to being awake but relaxed. The common theory is that waking up right around a REM period interrupts it rather than resets it, making it much, much easier to become lucid.

To directly answer your question: You can dream outside of REM, so you could potentially LD outside of REM as well.
