      I hate Sleeping at home

In my experience, I seem to only be able to really remember my dreams when I'm not at home. I don't know why this is, but it really hit me when I went on vacation with my family.

We went to Niagara Falls for 5 days, and every day I remembered my dreams vividly and very clearly, in a way that I haven't remembered my dreams for a long time. I journaled them all and still have the entries on hand. Its been almost 2 weeks now, and I can barely make out details of dreams I have here at home.

Its been even longer since I've had a lucid dream sadly. How many are still here who can actually offer their wisdom?

It is possibly because your new sleeping location is strange, unusual, and to your most basic instincts, scary because you don't usually sleep there. You sleep lighter, unconsciously watching for threats. Lighter sleep like this is better for recall.

That might be the reason people find success WILDing in a different sleep position than usual. A strange way of sleeping will in turn cause you to sleep lighter.

ExoByte, I've noticed this alot as well when I go away. A few months ago, when I went to China, I noticed I was having more vivid dream recall then normal. Heck, I WILDed more often in China than I have in my entire life!
Question: Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
      Answer: Neither, single-celled organisms did.

You completely missed the point of this thread.

      You however, are cool.

As for #1, I know why. You hit the nail. Maybe not on the head. You might of bent it and made it a bitch to get out, but you at least hit the nail. Its a good start. The why isn't the issue at hand.

As for #2, you didn't even hit the nail. You dented the wood around it and left the nail completely untouched. I don't even think you were using a hammer. And no, theres no such thing as Lucid Hotspots. There is no magical place or position that will make you have lucid dreams more.

The whole reason is what #1 said. Unfamiliarity. When you sleep in an unfamiliar place or position, you sleep in a more aware state which tends to be better for remembering as well as becoming lucid in dreams. Hes correct. Its a survival instinct. If you're in an unfamiliar environment your body sleeps lighter to make it easier to wake up and do what you gotta do, should you have to do it.

The issue at hand isn't the why, though re-reading my original post, perhaps this was unclear. I know why I remember more when out, I don't know why I have so much trouble as to enter insta-dryspell when at home, even after being away from it for a week. The purpose is to solve THAT problem.

Now, if you wish to try again, go ahead.

Have you considered setting an alarm for earlier than usual, changing your sleep pattern for a while or even taking up unusual tasks during the day that might change how you're thinking? All those things might help you sleep less soundly.

Na, I'm pretty sure I hit it right on the head. What, did you only read the first post?

Of course not. Whether I did or not however, is irrelevant because as it turns out, nothing in that thread helped me, and therefore neither have you.

Maybe If you were to rearrange your room it could have a similar effect.

      Okay, trying again.

I can't think of a way to fix not being able to lucid at home, but maybe change small things to mimic the effect of sleeping away. Rearrange furniture, sleep on your back/side/stomach/floor, go to bed and wake up 15-30 minutes earlier/later, change sheets/blanket/pillowcase, get a white noise machine/fan to try and keep you in a slightly lighter sleep.

Part of the problem might be that you now have an association with not being able to lucid dream at home. Try some autosuggestion or hypnosis to see if you can't remedy that.

I was going to suggest moving your bed to a different position to try and recreate that feeling of things being different or out of place.

And watch the 'tude. We don't need that here. Those people took the time to reply and try and help as best they could.

Was that a joke of some sort?

I don't know how to solve your problem. Sorry. BUT, I can say maybe it's because when you get home you're all, "Ahh, I'm finally back in my own bed..." and you get all relaxed, hence deeper sleep and less recall?
What if I told you that I am dreaming right now?
That your whole life is a lie?
That the laws of physics as you know them are incorrect?

Furthermore, what would you do if I told you I'm going to wake up as soon as you finish reading my signature?

You offered advice. I like you. You're cool.

And so is everyone with the room arranging idea. 3 or 4 people may have said it, but I'm very eco-friendly so I applaud you for recycling.
