Anyone ever visited a mall in a dream?

I find that, for someone who does not go shopping very often (let alone in a mall) in waking life, I have a lot of dreams that take place in malls.

The crazy thing is that my dream malls are always these bizzare, wonderful, mystifying otherworlds. I couldn't even begin to explain it in any sense of brevity, but in one manner or another they are amazing.

Has anyone else had odd mall experiences in dreams?

      Ha, that's so weird!

I can vaguely recall one mall dream. All I remember off the top of my head (it IS recorded somewhere though) is that there was a store that sold the most heavy-duty ammunition I'd ever seen. I recall making a bee-line for that one!

Interestingly I'm in the same boat. I rarely go to malls but I've had a few dreams about them. In fact, I actually just wrote about how I commonly dream of malls though I don't go to them that often in my dream journal a couple of days ago. The malls in my dreams are also very interesting, whether the stores are well themed, or there are full sized ferris wheels inside. I'll dig up those few dreams and post them below with what I find interesting (dreams are in italic style).

      The Themed Mall

I was at the mall and the theming in just about every store was incredible. Most prominent was theming from the Disney movie Aladdin. I suddenly found myself in a parking lot with lanes drawn around it. It dawned on me that I visited this place before, and I have. In reality it is a parking lot for a camping area. Some guy with a Mustang started to sort of race around in the lanes. I decided this was a place people come to just have fun driving their cars around. More and more cars enter. I think the guy in the Mustang must be really annoyed since all the others are only moving at about 6mph. I drive on a small motorized scooter and then the surroundings changed again. I was back in the mall in a Vietnamese restaurant. I was holding a spoon with Mexican beans on it. It tasted just like the real thing. My sister decided she wanted Pho soup. I smelled some, or rather I smelled and tasted some. Just then a large line formed and we decided to look for another place to eat.

We spot a Mexican food place. Eating the beans put me in the mood for Mexican food so we went in. Next to it is an Aladdin themed candy place. It is dark and apparently a holographic genie gives you candy. My sister wasn't present anymore. In the "restaurant" is actually a store that reminds me of Target. There were some boxes with a toy plane and helicopter inside. What a deal. The box read "Air Hogs Dragonfly, contains a plane and a helicopter!" I guess in a dream if you expect to know what text is going to say you can easily read it. My mom is now on some sort of mission. We have to get to the back of the store. We only have fifteen minutes. My mom stops to get a skirt for my best friend (in the world, not just where I live now like in previous dreams) and I say there isn't enough time. We continue, now with a shopping cart. A jam of shopping carts soon follows and I see a lady that looks just like my mom. She has the same clothes, hair- everything! She tried to say something but only undecipherable whispers came out. I decided she had smoked for most of her life and got cancer in her larynx so she couldn't speak. Of course, with the interest in the dream turned to smoking, my mom found "cigarette flavored gum" which claimed it would sooth you. I'm startled by these "coincidences" and instantly wake up.

That dream isn't particularly interesting, but the Aladdin store was really cool. The "cigarette flavored gum" is also kind of interesting. This is an early dream, hence the wrong observation of text. You can read fine in dreams regardless.

I had an interesting experience of two dreams connecting even though I woke up. I'll write them down as two parts because technically they are two separate dreams. Sadly, I have forgotten the order of many events, so I'll put them in the most logical one I can understand.

      The Lucky Mall (Part 1)

Just for those asking, no I am not crazy about malls. I know I dream of them often enough anyways... I began (obviously) in a mall. I went into a store that sold scratchcards and also had the lottery. Even though I doubt it is legal for me to buy them at my age (don't know) I took one and scratched it. The beginning said that if you get two monkeys on it then you get 27 shekel. The more monkeys, the more money. I scratched it and found that every square had a monkey. I couldn't believe how much money that must be. I quickly walked to the woman running the store and gave her my card. It was now the size of a small poster and was a painting of a jungle with monkeys hiding in it. I was worried she might miss the well-hid monkeys but she glanced to the side at a wall which had the same picture and the locations the monkeys should be at circled. Though the 27 shekel thing told me I was still in Israel, the lady spoke to me in English and told me that every square had a monkey. A man took over. I asked him how much money it was. He answered about some figure with a three. "3,000?" I asked (we were talking in USD) "300,000" was my answer. I gave a huge smile, but I wasn't as excited as I'd be in reality. I told him to put it on my bank account. I guess he knew it somehow and he did it. "Well, that'll pay for college," I told him.

Now the dream gets a little confusing. I was looking for Knott's Berry Farm attractions in this mall. I found Boomerang, Montezooma's Revenge, and Xcelerator. They were all something like half the size of real life. I believe I woke up.

      The Lucky Mall (Part 2)

Back in the dream, I was in the same mall. I went up to an old guy on top of a huge inflatable slide. He told me he was doing a competition. He would present you with pictures of people and black ink and you would have to paint as neatly as possible on wherever skin showed on their bodies, above the knees. This game seemed completely normal and I accepted. Soon, instead of painting, he told me to go down the slide. I understood I was supposed to do it in the most "cool" way possible. At the top of the slide I remembered that I was leaving Israel in one day, though I have 19 days in real life. I flopped down the slide ungracefully. My mom was waiting at the bottom of the slide. She was really happy to see me and swung me around by the arms and threw me. I saw some people working in the stores smiling. I felt that I had seen them before.

The dream got confusing like the last one. I walked by many ferris wheels. One actually would allow people to board by tipping over so the wheel was parallel to the ground, and then shooting back to an upright position. Another was spinning very fast. I saw a red wheel too, but I was more interested in a book that had made its way to my hands. They were full of wedding photos, and every page had a different plastic crank. However, the book lied flat. When the crank was turned, you could see a video come where the picture was seen. I remember most one with a boat drifting down a river. The last page I found a plant that looked like a tree. It had roots going into the book through a hole. There was a little description claiming that the plant had now died, but that it was the first tropical species "we" (I don't know who) had encountered. It also said there was a hard part in the middle. I felt it and found that the trunk was very soft, but that there were two long and hard objects inside.

I liked that dream because of how unlikely it was. Winning $300,000, finding all the Knott's Berry Farm attractions, going down that inflatable slide; all in the mall. It was fun.

I've had at least five other dreams involving malls but they aren't very interesting.

I don't go to malls often either, but my first and only LD so far was in a mall. I remember catching my reflection in a shop window, and noticing something wasn't right. I realized I was dreaming, got excited, and in the process pushed someone down the stairs. It was an interesting experience to say the least.

Yeah, i totally understand. I don't go to malls often at all either, yet i have really elaborate dreams about malls where i notice all the stores and what they have in their window displays, I even shop s. I've even had recurring dreams about this undergound mall place that my subconscious threw together, I'm either running from a tattoo artist that i owe money, or I'm working in a second hand clothing store on the first floor of the mall. I've had two dreams from each scenario. I have NO clue what they mean.

lol I've had a few of those.
I can't recall any details at the moment but I remembered always running away from someone/something or not being able to find my car in the parking lot. If it's not a car, I'm trying to find someone but never do.

This is so strange! I thought I was the only person who had mall dreams!! I too rarely go to the mall. BUT I do like to shop (just don't get to do it often due to time and money limitations - I do most of my shopping online). While I have never dreamt about Amazon.com, I often dream of elaborate malls.

The majority of my mall dreams are also lucid or semi, and for some reason the interior of the mall itself is extremely dim light and dingy, however the main department store (it's always a BIG one with many levels) seems to be extremely bright and that is where I stop and do the majority of my shopping. For some reason the mall always seems to feel like a place of danger, yet the department store feels very upbeat and safe.

There are always themes in my malls as well. One was a circus-type theme, complete with big top and dirt floors. Once it must have been national history month or something in my dream because there was a full model of a dinosaur on exhibit.

Also I dream about strip malls where I am walking store to store. It is always at night, and I always seem to have misplaced someone or something.

I dream of movie theaters too (something else I rarely visit) but it's massive theaters - the like of which I have never personally seen, with thousands of rows, almost like an auditorium.

I do too! The malls become these never-ending carnivals full of strange things! I thought I was the only one who dreamt like that. But yes, I've had countless mall dreams. Sometimes the malls will be 10 stories high or just never ending. Nothing really makes sense in it. The shelves are always huge and I will look up and items on the wall will be hundreds of feets in the air and unable to be reached. There are always tons of people yet I never know any of them. It's weird, haha.

      OMG That's so strange.
I've had a dream where there was a carnival inside the mall.
      There was also a rollercoaster.

Hehe! I actually know a mall like that IRL. I hate having to go there, though.

I go to a mall almost everyday, since it's where I get my groceries, but the malls in my dreams don't look at all like it.
There's this one that sometimes shows up in some of the more gloomy dreams. I doesn't look always the same, but the feel of the place remains from one dream to another. It's on a building, on the basement levels usually, with narrow corridors of dark colors. The stores are brightly lit but the light is a bit harsh and the stores tiny. When I see stores at all, that is...

wow, this scenario is one of my most magical and memorable reoccuring dream themes.

one time, long ago, in a mall dream, i found this secret corridor, all the way in the back of the mall, and then around a few more corners, then down this dark, descending, strobe light illuminated hallway. another time, i happened to find a cool rabbit hole portal, literally a hole in the ground leading to a magical place. other times, the secret room has been in a church or museum or some other mysterious place i've visited in real life.

ever since, in similar dream places, i always find myself trying desperately to get back there to that secret place again. it's so exciting!

I'm pretty sure the mall I dream of is based on an old mall in Boulder CO called Crossroads Mall. In my dream mall, I'm always looking for something, but wind up in a part of a department store (Wards?) that sells curtains, which are lined up against one wall.
