      Dreaming while awake?

Somtimes i'll find my self resting my eyes and eventually loosing conciesness in my images, i see in my head and i enter sort of a dream/thought, its hard to explain but ill eventually just snap into my mind again and relize what i was just thinking about, but the weird thing is i feel like my body is still awake at this time, just my mind has fallen asleep. does anyone know what this may be?

I have this happen. It happens when I don't completely wake up, but I'm conscious. It is very hard to explain. On one hand I'm completely disconnected from anything that is happening. It is like watching a movie. Usually a narrator is telling a story that goes along with the pictures. But I... just KNOW that I can get out of it. I don't know I'm dreaming, but I know if I decide to exit I can get back to bed.

I think what you are describing is more like daydreaming though. I tend to daydream a lot, and my daydreams can be extremely realistic. I'll be there, but I'm staring at an object and be living in the daydream. I think QwinsepiaSquared is right then, this is nothing but daydreaming. Sure helps on boring days though.

Sometime's I'll get into thinking or imagining so hard about something, I'll lose all awareness of the outside world. My body will look normal and my eyes will be open like I'm looking at something, but I'm really not paying attention to anything. Someone will eventually snap me out of it and for a second I might even wonder where I am. I don't think I'm dreaming though.

Sometimes I find myself staring at something when sleeping. I quickly realise that I shouldn't be staring at the TV (or something like that) if I'm in my bed, so I snap out of it and the image fades. I think it's hypnagogic imagery because it feels like an actual hallucination rather than an imagined image I see when daydreaming.

wow you just desribed basically how my morning dreams feel. it feels like reading a book except i'm usually in it...then i get annoyed if i'm interrupted and go back to the dream...at this point knowing it's a dream and not doing anything about it. not really true lucid dreaming, right?

Here's a neat thing that happened to me during my high school days:

I got home from school one day and decided to take a nap. I dozed for awhile, and felt like I went into a dream, but woke up... Or did I??? I opened my right eye (I was laying on my stomach, resting my head on my arm. My left eye was against it) and was irritated by the bright light and felt horribly tired. For some reason it came to me that I should close that eye and open my left. Now the whole room was a bluish color and everything in the room was set up completely different. The feeling of tiredness was gone too.

No way, I thought! I closed my left eye and opened my right again. And again the room was back to normal, bright and tired. I did this a few times before it went away.

This was the only time in my life that has ever happened. I wonder if I could really see into the dream world with one eye, or if the entire thing was a dream. Either way it was one of the most memorable dreams I've ever had.

I did that on the train. I just sat on the train reading a book and i felt myself doze off. All of the sudden i hear people talking but my mind is matching the voices with images in my head. So i see people in mid dream while i hear voices out of the dream.

It's a middle state between sleep and being awake? I've been having these as well. They are fun because you can fall asleep whether you like them and wake up if you don't. Simple.

Welcome to my world!! I have those EVERY single day! It's daydreaming. I have them in math, english, science aaand french classes. And the weird thing is that I remember them better than the normal dreams I'm supposed to have at night!
