Waking up crying?

Friday and saturday morning I woke crying from my dreams. In both dreams, I was crying so hard i could barely breath. The dream on friday morning was about there being a warrant for my arrest because I hadn't paid my speeding ticket, even though I still had a week to pay it. The reason I was crying was because the cop was yelling at me and was being a complete jerk.

The dream I had on saturday morning was about my boyfriend breaking up with me because of the new job he just got. Once again in my dream I was crying extremely hard. My boyfriend finally had to wake me up because I was crying so hard.

Can anyone tell me whats going on at all?

If it helps at all, My boyfriend and I have a wonderful relationship. He has been there for me when i need him the most. I love that boy to death. He is my best friend.

Well, that happens occasionally--maybe you just had two bad nights in a row.

If everything else is OK, I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe something is bothering you tho. It may not be directly related to the things you were dreaming about.

If it happens again, start trying to remember all the details of the dreams, and writing them down. Then look for patterns in them, and any clues to what they might mean.

I am not good at dream interpretation, and everyone can probably interpret their own the best anyway, although there are some people here who can probably give you some clues.

Sounds to me like you have repressed hurt from being let down by others. A part of you still sounds hurt from it happening before - perhaps as a child. The first dream suggests that you have been criticised or treated unfairly and the second suggests that you have were not important enough for someone you considered very special. But the general theme seems to be the same - and your emotional response to it also the same.

Maybe it's your unquestionable love for your boyfriend that has this hurt part of you (inner child?) screaming to beware in case it happens again. I don't believe that there is necessarily anything wrong with your loving your boyfriend. But I think your inner child would like to hear that you - the grown up person - will look after her and that you're prepared to share her hurt instead of repressing it as if it didn't happen.

If you're interested in exploring the inner child and your relationship to her, I can offer some suggestions.

To wake up crying, I wouldn't say theres anything wrong. Our emotions are present both while we're awake and asleep. Should we feel powerful emotions in a dream, which could be incredibly intense given the nature of dreams, and to wake up to this feeling... it would be difficult not to.

I'm going to try and dig up that thread now. :)

Yeah, I wouldn't really say there is anything wrong. It's been said that many of our emotions actually come on even stronger, in dreams, than they do in waking life. I've had really intense, emotional dreams where I've woken up crying, and even one where I was fake crying in the dream, to get out of a bad situation, and was giving such a good performance that, when I woke up in the middle of it, I could actually hear myself sobbing. Haha.

So yeah. I don't think you should worry about it, too much. :wink:

Nothing odd about that at all, my guess would be that the emotion you were feeling within the dream were so strong that it carried out into your waking state ( like Oneironaut had said.) Or maybe because the emotions were coming right near the end of the dream so the emotion was already there when you woke up. I don't know why this happens. I've never woke up crying but I have woken up laughing.

I don't like seeing people crying, and I feel for your experience very much - both of your dreams would be unimaginably awful in real life (particularly the one about the angry cop... cops always frighten me, what with their pepper spray and their night sticks and their flashing lights). But I think you should wait it out. You aren't being arrested, and you and your boyfriend love each other very much... so wait and see if it's a trend. And if it is, you should really tell us or someone you trust - it means something is troubling you. But if it's just those two nights, it could be just random occurrences unfortunately happening one right after the other.

Ive woke up crying before, but then you start LOLing because you were crying over some odd thing in ur dream. Like leaves blowing away

I had many experiences regarding this phenomena in my 17 years of existence. I remember one instance but I am pretty sure that it was brought about by stress.. my dream was that I was failing one of my subject because of cheating(duh! everyone cheated in that project of ours), I couldn't accept it and it felt so real that I woke up crying. But, the rest of my occasional experience of this phenomena came with weird dreams, I remember that the most common dream was that of a little girl, I can't remember clearly what happened in that dream but I have a feeling that the little girl has been telling me very sad stories about her life(which I cannot remember) that always made me wake up crying... If I remember correctly, this little girl visited me around 3-4 times already in seperate dreams and occassions.. I feel for her and I hope to unravel the mystery of this little girl(I wonder what connection she has with me or my past life if there is any). Another remarkable experience came with a dream that I could not remember the moment I woke up. But, I was very sure that I had a dream.. and as soon as I woke up, I was crying and my head contained thoughts about God and me realizing why God has never given me what I really wanted in this life(stardom.. hehe forgive me for the shallowness), This was really wierd but I felt so enlightened and touched that time.. I really felt God and cried for the next around 5-10 minutes. Well, this morning, I experienced this phenomena once again but with a different dream.. In that dream, I was seeing animax channel's: creative mind segment(I'm not sure with the title but it features successful creative artists and personalities).. according to the dream, the segment featured something like "first international chancellor", it sounds rubbish but that's what I remember.. and then, a video was shown.. it was about the metamorphosis of a caterpillar to a butterfly in anime/computerized style.. and the video was using a not-so-caterpillar-and-butterfly-like-creature... I guess this dream is somewhat a symbolism. It's wierd when I wake up crying but I honestly fell good when I experience this.. It really makes me feel fullfilled and happy in jumpstarting my day. Now that's what I call wierd. I'm really happy i could share these experiences at last.
