Of course they dream! Everyone dreams! Deaf, blind, whatever. Perhaps they just don't see in their dreams

Theres no reason why they wouldnt dream.
You cant comprehend how other peopel view the world. Like deaddollkitty said they probably dream in sound, textures, and smell. All the sense that they do have.

Can blind people think freely like any other normal person? Just because they are blind doesn't mean their brain doesn't work like yours; with the exception of the part that allows you to see : P

It really all depends on when they became blind.. where they blind from birth or did they lose their sight mid-life. People who are blind from birth have never known sight so, most likely, they dream in sounds. People who lost their sight most likely have a dream like anyone else. They've known sight and I don't see why they wouldn't dream with it.

I'm not a scientist, though. I could be totally wrong.

I've heard that if you became blind part-way through life, you'll dream like people with sight for a while, but eventually it fades away and you just dream of sounds, tastes, and feelings.

Yes, blind people do have dreams. However, those blind since birth or very early childhood have no visual imagery in their dreams. Instead, they experience a very high percentage of taste, smell, and touch sensations in their dreams.

I was thinking about a person who unfortunately became blind midway through their life and still has visual dreams and becomes lucid. They wake up in a dream. Do they continue dreaming with sight or do they dream as if they were awake without sight? Can a blind person at birth become aware they are dreaming? Perhaps more frequently aware than the sighted?

Did anyone perform extensive studies on the blind and lucidity such as LeBarge?

I was kind of thinking about that, and I realized how well a reality check that would be! (serious not joking or poking fun)

also, in a lucid dream has anyone else here gained parts or senses or powers? I asume it would be like that, they only have to imagine what seeing is like. The same way you all have to imagine what flying is like

So if a blind person became Lucid and they could do anything they wanted... could they force imagery to appear? I mean... I'm sure they have a concept of what imagery is, especially through the subconscious.

I wonder if LD'ing could introduce a way to fix the blind's eye.

Tell your brain howto make use of the eyes from in the brain kinda deal...

      hmmm... The possibilities.

This is something I never thought about but it is deep. I have heard stories about people who have lost limbs still feel the removed limb(s).

Yes I had an uncle who had cramps in his artificial leg. Sounds funny but it must be really scary to be at the sharp end of it.

How long did the cramps last?

have you ever experienced the sensation of falling? and jolted up awake?

do you remember seeing yourself fall, or do you remember seeing the ground come closer to you? probably not, thats why its known as the sensation of falling. yet without visual cues, the sensation feels real enough that everyone can describe it as 'falling'?

thats how blind people dream. sensations and sounds, just like when they are awake. a lot of people complain their dreams lack physical sensations, this shouldn't be a problem for the blind!

ps, I did know a blind girl and she did recall a lot of dreams. the sensation of weightlessness is how she knew when she was dreaming and awake. so she could use weightlessness to lucid dream
