When you lucid dream expectations are incredibly powerful. If you expect to see this figure and for bad things to happen when ever you realise that you are dreaming, then they will. It really is that simple.

However it can be tricky to change expectations. Do you ever recall normal dreams? If you do I would suggest keeping a dream diary and recording both NDs and LDs, as many as you can recall from a night. Also meditation throughout the day might help you to relax more when you go to sleep at night.
