I'm really excited to have learned about this topic, and I'm trying my best to lucid dream but I have been wondering this question.
Does it feel like first person real life? or does it feel like a movie 3rd person?
Also is it easy to forget lucid dreams? because if you lucid dream and dont even remember when you wake up then what's the point? if you wont be able to re live the experience by remembering it :/
Most of the time it's just like first person real life. But you'll find that out for yourself when you LD :) An awesome goal that's fun even after you've been Lding for a long time is just exploring the environment. Feel the walls, the ground, stare at your hands until you can see every wrinkle. Lick the windows. Smell, taste, etc. The more frequently you do that in a LD, the more vivid (and stable) the dream will become.
As long as you've got good basic recall, lucid dreams tend to be way easier to remember than regular dreams.
I think it does for the most part, but I also feel as though it can slightly vary from person to person. I've had a low number of lucid dreams myself, but I've had enough to know what they generally feel like. I only had one or two that actually felt like it was real life, and in the rest I felt sort of... disconnected. I'm not sure how to put it, but for the most part, they feel real.
I think it depends on the dream and the person. For example sometimes a dream feel more real than reality and that is different than reality. But I think in general a good solid lucid will feel real but different. And not in a way that makes it less real... more like an emotional connection you have to a song, one that you can't really describe but you know it when you feel it.
For me, each lucid dream can be quite different. At the height of vividness, though, I find benshurts description to be pretty accurate. More real than real, but simultaneously amorphous, able to change direction with a shift in thought or mood.
Lucid dreams can be both foggy and ultra-vivid, it depends largely on how "awake" you are during that dream.
You could compare it to how alert you are in waking life:
if you are excited about your surroundings then you will feel very present in the moment, but if you are tired and disconnected - or if you are daydreaming - then you will probably not notice that much of what's going on around you.
It's sort of the same thing with lucid dreams.
Anyway, lucid dreams can definitely feel like waking life.
Personally I seem to be quite good at getting False Awakenings (dreams about waking up) for some reason, and they are usually so vivid that I actually easily become confused whether or not I am awake.
For example, I once got a False Awakening where my bed was rotated 90° to the right and where a mysterious television that I had never seen before suddenly stood by my feet, and all of this was of course a very obvious sign that I was dreaming, and I was lucid for a while;
but I immediately became insecure about everything when I put my feet on the floor, because the floor felt very hard and a little cold, and almost everything in my room seemed to look roughly the same as in waking life, and I didn't know what I should believe.
Then 10 seconds later I woke up, and my bed was at its normal position again and the television was gone. :cheeky:
