When I dream about me playing video games, I actually become part of the game. Like lm not on the computer playing I teleport into the game.
In one of my dreams, I was playing counter strike and when my team lost, we became part of some zombie survival setting. A few of my teammates died, which caused us to lose again. the game ended and my view chamged to me on the computer saying "GG"
Anyone else like this? Sonething different?
Yes, this happens to me often. I use this as a way to teleport now! I have also had some dreams where I am both things, at the controls and in the game, very difficult to get the coordination between buttons and movements.
Question about counter-strike... Did you run faster in the dream when you had the knife out?
Lol I never noticed about the knife thing. Usually I can tell its counter strike because i see a terrorist or counter terrorist outfit
I don't get games that often but about 75% of the time I stay outside playing it at the controls. A few times I've transitioned to inside.

This usually happens to me when I'm really anticipating a new game. (I mean really anticipating) A lot of the time my dream will be a mix between playing the game and actually being in the game.
I was wondering, is it possible to play games with any accuracy in a Lucid dream? Like if there was a lot of footage and information of an upcoming game could you replicate it with any success while lucid dreaming?
I play a lot of different games and experienced a number of them whilst dreaming. Like you said it's as though your actually in the game not playing it on a computer, although sometimes I do have access to a keyboard.
I remember one dream playing counterstrike and I got shot with a shotgun. It hurt real bad! It felt like I had been shot IRL! so much pain :(
Othertimes if I get shot I don't feel anything and just respawn.
It's actually really weird when you're inside of the game but also controlling it with a controller/mouse/keyboard as well. That's what most of my dreams are like when I'm inside of a video game.
I've been having video-game dreams off and on, even lately; But I don't have an Xbox 360 like I sometimes do in dreams.
One time I had a dream that I was in black ops 2 domination mode and whenever I died I could just respawn, so the whole thing about dying and then coming back to life in a dream was weird.
Recently been playing H1Z1 which only just came out a little while ago and already I've had dreams about it.
I can remember walking over some punjabi sticks that dug right into my feet it hurt like hell :(
I once had a dream about Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time, and I was at that waterfall at the entrance to Gerudo Valley and jumped down it, and floated down to Lake Hylia - and it was late in the night in the game, shortly before sunrise.
It was a truly beautiful experience, and those of you who played that game as kids in the late 90s will probably understand exactly what it felt like.
This happens to me if i grind out games to much and fast. I remember once it happend with tetris. I was one with the blocks. Creepy as hell.
Sometimes I have dreams about being in video games, and I won't be able to see my hands but I have to use the controller in order to make myself move. I had to stop playing zombie video games late at night because I kept dreaming about them, but one of those dreams ended up being one of my favorite lucid dreams.
Exact thing happens to me, and its in counterstrike as well.

Video games in dreams are very common for me. The way it usually works is that video game type stuff starts happening gradually, which then spirals into the dream plot being entirely game like, like I'm living a game from the inside. Eventually what usually happens is I 'zoom out' and it's as if I was playing the game all along from the outside, instead of being inside it. It's funny because I thought I'd quit playing video games, but since practising dream recall it turns out that I never stopped! Maybe I never will!
The problem I'm facing now is how to figure out I'm dreaming in those situations, because anything weird can be just explained away as 'game mechanics'. :lol:
It used to happen to me very often when I played video games--it's pretty understandable if you think about it. When you play a game in waking life, you are so concentrated on it that you almost put yourself into the world of the game anyway. Dreams just give your mind the power to make that more literal.
For a while when I was younger, every time I got into a car, I would suddenly be driving a car like I would drive them in Grand Theft Auto. (When I was dreaming, of course)

I have the same thing. Even in non-first person games. Like RTS games for example when I play them. I'm not looking at a computer screen or handling a keyboard and mouse, I'm just doing it, and my whole vision is JUST the game.
I actually had a problem last time I was in a video game. Instead of being in both the normal world holding a controller and in the game at the same time, I was in the game with the controller. In order to run faster or attack I had to hit the buttons, but I usually accidentally lost the controller in the middle of a fight or race and had to look for it. I was lucid at first, but lost it and regained it later.
I've been having a lot of video game dreams lately where it transitions from playing the game to being in the game (or both at once.)
I had one dream similar to Sensei's the other night, where I had the controller inside the game. It was a fighting game like Tekken, and I had to mash buttons while I was right there next to my opponent. :putemuppunk:
My game dreams are usually semi-lucid, since I know I'm in a virtual world and can respawn/rewind, and usually I have good dream control too. They can sometimes lead to fully lucid dreams where I acknowledge the dreamworld, but sometimes I just follow along with the storyline without being very aware.
This have happened many times to me, and is something quite fun to remember when I wake up. I usually see myself as the character into the game, but with the knowledge of all being part of a videogame (not fearing for my life when I'm in danger and so).
Lately, I'm playing daily to the Heroes of the Storm beta, and I've dreamt once or twice about it. Most of the time, I live it in first person, as being one of the characters in the battlegrownd. Sometimes, the "camera" goes up, so I see myself with the rest of my team (this happens usually when the whole team is about to play some specific strategy).
Is funny how I'm perfectly aware of everything being a game despite of this "first person" perspective of the experience.
Something that has happened a few times for me is that I go into game menus rather than the game itself. For example I might have a few yes/no questions (usually bizarre one obviously) I have to navigate.
The other day I had a DEILD loading screen that felt a lot like a game or a TV show or something...
Menus tend to take up my entire vision (like ageofthunder) and are 2D as well. When I am the main character though, I tend to be a low polygon version of a character in the game rather than being myself.
I don't know what's wrong with me. After playing FFXIII, I tend to dream about the characters many times. So far I managed to dream about Lightning and her gang except Sazh. I'm waiting for him to pop up in my dream for my dream characters collection. Their appearances were so detailed.
I even entered combats with them. Gosh, dreaming about video games really make my day brighter and wish for more. I even dreamt about Nemesis from RE:3 twice. Those were really creepy dreams, having to dodge and escape from being chased by Nemesis.
I agree, like others, I do the in-game with controller protocol usually. rarely do I play as the character itself, and even more rarely do I play from outside the game. Sometimes my dream is themed from a game, but is not that game, like if I'm playing Call of Duty, and the map is blocky like Minecraft (which is an old dream from years ago, let's get it straight, I play Battlefield now).Quote:

Very common experience for me. I simply "become" the character (usually FPS games) and play the game in first person. Like virtual reality.
Woot! Best day ever. I dreamt about becoming one of the characters from FF Type-0 and we're in a mall. We were fighting the bad guys wearing armors and veils. In order to save the world, I travelled with the others to a place kinda look like Gran Pulse.
There, I can witness Auron and Jecht from FFX were talking to each other and joking around. Then, I saw vivid images of characters from FFXIII(Lightning and co.) were running behind Jecht and Auron for an unknown reason.
I want moar dreams like this. It was so entertaining and pleasing. FF fans, don't get jealous, lol.
To original poster, dreaming about video game is one of the best thing that can be accomplished.
Yeah. Back in time i was playing CS 1.6 i've seen dreams where i'm a part of game. Actually running on the map. And headshots, headshots :D
But detalization still was sux!
When I dream of video games it is occasionally where I am playing the game on a console or computer with the controller, but usually it's like a virtual reality version of the game where either I join the main characters of the game or I am one of the characters from the game. The last time I had a video game dream I saw someone in Assassin's Creed robes and he gave me a mission to take out a Templar spy. I really like dreaming in video games.
Its pretty comum for me to have this kind of dream... I mean, in the dream I'm "playing"/living inside a game.
I'm not playing much games theses days...
Story time. For a large part of my childhood, many of my regular nightmares involved me being in a horrible video game full of things that would chase me and/or constantly scare me. I was in the game's world, but I still felt the controller in my hands all the time. A large chunk of these nightmares consisted of me pausing the game and then struggling to scroll down to the "Quit Game" option, which I only ever made it to once. The highlight on the menu would skip over the option to quit and wouldn't be that responsive in general to my interactions with the controller. The rest of the nightmares where I didn't get to "Quit" would just strain me until I woke up, which was not very pleasant.
Yeah, I've had dreams of being in video games many times, but I'm not sure I've ever been in a certain game. Maybe a game that was reminiscent of others, but never an exact representation of the real thing.
One question: When you're in these video game dreams, do most of you see the HUD (user controls)? I've never seen it in my dreams but maybe in some of yours, like Spyke here:

Yeah, it took up my whole FOV, and everything else in the background became blurry. I guess that's the easiest way I can describe it.Quote:

Probably not surprising I did, since I was playing GTA pretty much every day when I had that dream!
Most of the time when its a game dream it is still third person for example, but it is if I am actually there, not behind a screen. For example one time I dreamt I was playing age of empires three and I was like an omniscient third person floating around, but it was if I was actually there, not 'playing' the game. I think this is similar to dreams where it feels like watching a movie, but a bit more involved because of the gameplay aspect.
For all dreams I've games featured, it could be anything.
1) I'm just playing it. Obviously using phone or PC. Same as waking life.
2) I'm inside. I think that game is my reality.
3) Games with virtual reality. Nothing to explain much.
4) Mixed. I once had a dream that I was playing via my desktop computer. However, after few minutes, I completely believe that was actually virtual reality. Ugh, I don't really know. It changed according to timeline in my dream. So, that literally means the image somehow consumed me.
Though, I always wish it's possible to have some handy interactive dialog boxes floating in real life. Example goes by anime like Sword Art Online/Log Horizon. I did have them in some of my dreams though, even though it wasn't about games at all. Also sometimes, HUD exists by my vision. They're placed around my FOV without interrupting my vision at all. For example, if HP bar is shown on top left. I'll just try to look for it without moving my head.
I recently dreamed that I was playing GoldenEye 007 for the N64 (that game PWNZORZ, by the way), and all of a sudden I saw Bond's front body, slightly from his upper left, and I actually saw him reloading a weapon.
All of this was very strange, because you never see your own character's front body like that, except during cutscenes and in the very beginning of a Multiplayer match of course, and you also never see them move their arms when they reload their weapons.
I remember I was almost about to become somewhat lucid, because I started to feel that something was weird about the whole thing, and then I woke up.
I also remember seeing Boris inside a shed of some sort high up in the sky (kind of like that final shed on the Cradle stage, right before the very last part of the fight with Trevelyan, except it seemed to levitate all by itself), and he shot at me with a Klobb.
Obviously, I took no damage at all.
Well by now I'm sure you've figured out that this is fairly common haha Like just about everyone else, this happens to me all the time. I don't remember ever playing a video game in a dream where it didn't turn into the point where I was in the video game.
