Im curious to see if people think they can create DGs, or simply find them? |

Maybe...
Nope
Yep

Isn't finding them just the same as creating them? Even though you find a dream guide in a bar your brain had also created it, so I don't see the difference. |
|
I like destruction and reality, and one invariably leads to the other.
'Dreams are real while they last. Can we say more of life?'
'We die to remember what we live to forget'
I guess it really depends on what you think a Dream Guide is, and thats what im curious about hearing from people. Some say its your unbridled subconscious, some say its an external entity, and some say its not even real. When I say create I mean someone standing in a lucid dream and crafting their ideal dream guide, to be more specific. |
|
Well if you think it's an external entity you wouldn't be able to create it, it wouldn't be a real dream guide but some false entity which - because you wanted it - fakes being the actual dream guide. Now if you thing it's just like any DC it's the same creating it from nothing and finding it, as it's just one more DC which acts as you expected it to act. |

I'm not spiritual, nor do I believe that DGs are anything more than everyday dream characters. People get confused sometimes by how a DG might just work, and then start labeling them "unbridled unconscious" etc. |
|
I don't believe that dream guides have to be more than DC's to give insightful, interesting information. I don't think you are accounting for the increased levels of creativity that we have while in dreams. |
|
Ummm...I never said anything about a DC not being able to give insightful or interesting information, I'm saying that the information for the eventual conclusion of the DC is already present in the brain. The DG is merely a tool, like logical reason which helps you reach that conclusion. |

You can create anything you desire in a dream. So, if you desire a dream guide, you will get a dream guide. And yes, if you desire it to tell you deep and meaningful things, it will indeed tell you deep and meaningful things -- but, as Dutchraptor already said, keep in mind that you already knew those deep and meaningful things before your DG told you! |
|
It depends on what you believe a dream guide's composition is. Some believe that they are beings that will show themselves to you when they have deemed you worthy (or at other times). Others (like me) believe that they are simply DCs that you put your focus and belief in that what they say is true and that they will stay persistent (like a persistent realm), no mysticism, just a fun way around some barriers, which is what I believe that LDing is... breaking mental barriers and creating pathways instead of road blocks. |

Awesome responses, thanks so much guys. Great to get some insight into some of you lucid dreaming heavy-hitters. I have personally always thought a DG would have to present itself to me, and that I couldn't just summon it, but many of you make good points. It could definitely be that DG lore has been popularized by more mystic seeking dreamers. I will try to summon my DG soon and see how I feel about the outcome. |

There are two "No's" in the poll results, would you share why you think it isnt possible? Trying to get everyone's opinions in here! |
|
Interesting that you did incubation irl anotherdreamer - almost like tulpa creation, of which I keep thinking. |
