Do you have a set dream world?

      Hello there!

I started documenting my dreams since the beginning of this year, and it really helped me recall dreams more vividly and it has led to some really cool dreams and almost lucidity. What I found interesting, though, was that many (about 80% - 90%) of my dreams seemed to take place in the same world; not necessarily in the exact same locations, but these locations seemed linked. With a few more dreams I was able to visually map out these locations within the world. Many locations are amalgamations of real places known to me quite well, while some are real places I have never been to and others are just fantasy. I am able to add a new location to the map at random, though usually long, periods. What I find really cool, though, is that there is a massive cave system that runs underneath most of the world and has entrances at about four or five locations (a mall, a forest, a little town, etc).

A friend of mine has told me that many of his dreams begin in a corridor lined with many doors - each leading to another dream. This may be yet another such 'dream world'.

Has anybody else had such an experience or any thoughts to share on this matter?

(Also, as a side note, I have found that sleep deprivation leads to more vivid dreams and higher chances of lucidity.)

The vast majority of my dreams do not seem to be connected in anyway. In one dream I'm in a random gymnasium, in another I am in a jungle watching a gorilla and leopard battle it out, and in another I am in a forest in the middle of winter. None of these places ever felt connected or linked.
My Lucid Dreaming Motto - "I have walked upon the the surface of a burning star. Observed events so infinitesimal and instantaneous that they can barely be described as having occurred at all. You... you're just a dream character. And this world's most powerful dream character poses no more threat to me than it's smartest cupcake." - Dr. Manhattan (kinda)

I also do not have naturally connected dreams, but I have started trying to go by a couple of story plots/locations as of late. I'll see how that turns out.

Awesome. Let me know what happens; being able to go into a predetermined story or plot is one of my goals.

Cityscapes are a very common theme in my dreams, but never the same city, or even the same kind of city. I go from suburbs to downtown to future cities to dirty cities to foreign cities. I don't always dream in cities (just check my dream journal), but they are quite common for me.

Oh wow! That's epic! It's cool to see that this occurrence has happened elsewhere. I'm sorry to hear about the town being lost, though. Ah I wish I could lucid dream at will.

I'll post a link to the map in a few days (I'm too new to post links :p).

I too have a portal to another world linked to the dream world, though I have only had one or two dreams in the second world.

Sorry about the double post, they won't delete for some reason and it is the fault of my South African internet connection.

It's rather interesting how dreams are linked/not linked; I wonder what dictates these correlations. Have you or do you live in a city, if you don't mind me asking? Or is there some other likely reason? (Sorry, I don't mean to pry, I'm just really interested :p)

      Oh my god!
      That happened to me too!!!

There was this world .. a normal looking town, but it had it landmarks. And EVERY DREAM for like 3 months or so, took part in that TOWN.
All on different locations, but it was all connected. And in a lucid dream i found a center of the town, there was a small crossroad, BUT in the ground there were portal-like circles!

Every time i was in that town it was easy to realize it is a dream. The town NEVER changed. Never EVER. And I didn't create it, it just built itself. I knew every street, every building in every street, I couldn't really get lost in it.
But as I wanted to keep my dream world, one day i have drawn a map in Ms Paint, of all the streets and buildings, parks etc.
And every night i would visit the town and explore some more, the more i explored, the bigger the town was.

In the middle of the crossroads was this old man, with white beard, also was holding a walking stick, i found out he was there because once i couldnt find which road do i take to get to school, he just pointed his finger. He doesn't speak.

But, when the real world stress came into play, i kinda gave up on dreams, and i abandoned my town and it shattered. I don't think it can ever be the same. My dreams are scattered now, never happening in the same world.
