The possibility of a Dream Recorder.

Didn't really know where to post this but here seems like the best place, anyway recently I have been thinking about the possibility of a dream recorder, Which could capture video from a first person view and also perhaps a third person view, with the addition of audio. I believe such things are possible if we could somehow have a machine that is able to generate images and audio as the user perceives the dream world and the machine can pick up on signals in the brain that correspond with things like objects audio such as speech if you know what I mean, what are your views on this and do you think it is also possible?

Well a lot of my dreams i like to keep to my self so i think having a machine like this for me would do no good. Also when you are sleeping someone could come come up to you and attach it you and read your dreams it would be very invasive. Although a lot of my dreams i would like to watch or play again. eventually it will be possible for a machine like this but right now i dont know we still have much to learn on the human brain.

Huh? You just store them in a private folder, plus on an external harddisk/usb, and password protect them if needed.

It would be very difficult. The brain processes A LOT of data at any given moment (I forgot the number... but I know it was something like over 100,000 gigs) is it possible? Yes. Is it possible with the current main stream technology? No. Not even close. However, wait about 10-20 years, Im sure they'll have something then.

It's a step in the right direction, but it's still far off. All the subjects were able to do was use their mind to make images appear on a screen, and not even any image they wanted, just the ones the scientists already had. Maybe one day, when we figure out who the brain 'encodes' visual information (even that may be subjective from person to person) but like I said, it's a step in the right direction. Oh wait, just noticed that this was made three years ago... hm. Well I guess maybe the tech will come out sooner then we think I just hope when it does, the govertment doesn't abuse it in someway (I would probably move to a different country as soon as these came out, just in case.)

When they come out with that, I'll be first in line to get it LOL! Imagine, being able to watch every dream you ever had. The ideas you could get for books or films! Or being able to relive lucid dreams over and over and over and over! What fun

You may also be interested to read this: "Dream decoder" can tell what you've dreamt about (Wired UK).
Some Japanese researchers have correlated brain signals when viewing images while awake, with brain signals gathered from dreams, and have found similarities. Therefore they were able to make some rather accurate predictions on what their subjects were dreaming about before they gave their dream report. This may be the way forward, but it's still early days and very intensive work. The above link dumbs it down a lot, and the original article itself (which I have read) is much more complicated.

I watched one documentary on this, i think in 2013 the best what we can do is to record our simple thoughts and imagination. For example scientist can catch brain waves and record simple pictures like "+" and "-".. it is blurry but it is coming from our brain and you can call it the beginning of our dream recording. Whenever person thinks of plus or minus on a white background, scientist get the same picture on their screen. But when people start looking or thinking about something complex, picture is getting very blurred, because it is very low definition recording at the moment.

I hope in future they will improve this technology and we will be able to record our dreams in HD Not only we need to invent a new high quality method of recording but also we need to create more advanced type of data storage.
