Crying in Dream, Waking up still crying!

Hi, so i had a dream last night. I was in a house where all my intermediate family was in aswell, i in the kitchen and all of a sudden a tornado started and it caused an explosion in the kitchen, i got flung forward then the dream went to me being out the front of a shop where my older brother was and i was outside with my best friend crying cause i didnt know if my family were alive cause of the fire. I rang my mothers mobile (still crying at this point) there was a mesage on her phone for me saying she was alive. Then i began crying more cause i didnt know if my brothers and sisters had made it or my dad. From this point i was crying but i could hear myself crying in reality, i then realized i was dreaming but could not stop crying in reality. Help! I was extremely emotional when i woke up. My boyfriend tried to calm be but i could control the crying.

Hi, this happens to me alot and its pretty normal so dont worry. I once had an experience where in my dream i was with my sister who was slowly dieing. It was sad and i woke up a little emotional. All i can really say is: Just think about the dream and keep reminding yourself it was only a dream. Thinking about the dream really helped me.

Hi Shennae. When we dream, the part in our brain that controls emotion is more uninhibited, that is why we tend to feel more intensely in dreams. It is completely normal to have an emotionally upsetting dream and still have the feeling linger with us even after we wake up. The emotions we feel (or think we feel) during a dream is just as real as any emotion we would feel in real life, so that could be why we can't control ourselves even when we know it was a dream. Don't fret
      xXxArtistxXx and Rudedudeowns like this.

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

It can be worse, like winning the lottery in your dream, and then waking up realizing you were only dreaming....it's devastating xD
but yeah...what paigeyemps said is true.
