Any other ways to improve dream recall?

Are there any other ways to improve your dream recall, apart from dream journals? would writting about a made up dream before bed help your recall?

If you're less worried about daily life things, it'll be easier for you to recall things.

If you're less in a rush to wake up, it'll be easier for you to recall too. I've never tried writing about a make-up dream and I have reasons to believe that made-up dream has a possibility of becoming part of my real dreams.

Usually what I'll do is count the number of dreams I have and remember a few key words for each dream. If you think you have dreams but you can't recall them, lie still on your bed for a moment and your dreams might flow back to you.
