      Split Personality

I noticed an interesting thing this morning after I woke up and wrote in my dream diary. It hasn't happened a lot, but I have had several dreams over the past few years where there are two of myself, and I am both. It sounds a bit paradoxical, I know, so I'm going to make this simpler by using a metaphor that I often dream about a yin and yang form of myself, except both are female. We look alike, but one of me aligns more with 'good' and the other more with 'evil'. For example, one will be shy, chaste, modest, etc; and the other will be outgoing, sexual and egotistic. A common theme of these dreams is that the 'evil' version of myself is terrorising the 'good' half, though these dreams aren't nightmares-I never wake up feeling afraid.

So, I'm wondering, do any of you have dreams like this?

I have a feeling that these dreams are a subconscious hint to myself that I need to 'let go' a bit. I identify a lot with the 'good' character, so much so that it's almost an absolute. I think these dreams are a hint that I need to engage my wild side more, but also not let it take over.

Any other interpretations anybody would like to share?

Also, to anyone who knows a lot about the 'yin and yang' topic, it was merely a descriptive aid, and I am not implying it in a literal sense.

      I think I can relate.

In my dreams I am often unlike myself - I become more outgoing and brash, and I feel that just being an opposite of myself solely in my dreams balances the actual me of reality, but that's just me of course.

Usually symbols of yin and yang doesn't mean good and evil, it just means that one cannot be stable without the other. It wouldn't hurt to be more outgoing, but if you try doing so and don't feel comfortable with yourself like that, you may feel content with who you are now.

      Hope this helps

I'm like this in waking life. Obviously there aren't literally two bodies of me... but everything else is the same. I'm actually intending to work toward splitting my body in lucids so that my separate selves can have some room to breath. I can't say I've ever had it happen involuntarily in a dream before, but I wish I had.
