Controlled by another

Normally I just lurk, but I could use some outside input on a dream I had last night.

Sometimes when I dream it's just dark. Wherever I am I'm definitely there, but I can't see anything, it's like I'm floating some space, and whatever constitutes my body feels much larger than my waking self. Most of my dreams are the total opposite, with visual detail and acuity in excess of what I experience while awake, but this was one of the other kind.

I had a strong sense that something was controlling me, or trying to control me, inside my mind. It was like the feeling of a physical struggle where one tries, but is overpowered, in a small way like losing at arm wrestling, only this was not a physical struggle and I could feel it through every fibre of my being. This force accosted me suddenly from wherever I had been before, and began to suppress me as though, in a matter of "seconds" my will would be gone.

As this happened I felt a great fear, as if I understood some massive implication. Then I shouted/thought something which was either "Let me go!" or "Get out of me!" but was not expressed in any words. It was a very powerful command, my whole self felt ON, and then it was gone, and I woke up.

Any thoughts on this experience? I have never before felt aware of being in a dream, and also aware of another presence in it beyond myself. It was not pleasant.

It doesn't sound like he wants an interpretation, but like he's looking for an explanation of what happened. I'd say this is the right forum for it, but depending on how this goes it might bear moving to Beyond Dreaming in the future.
