I had to pass an exam

This night I dreamt that I had to pass an exam in some kind of classroom…
I’m a little older than that, so it’s a long time ago I passed my last exam.
I my dream the teacher explained which questions to answer but when we got started the text on my pages just turned into something else – other words, other questions – nothing to do with the subject.
I tried and I tried but I couldn't find the right words.
What is that supposed to mean?

Sounds to me like you are ambivalent. Your futile attempts to answer the test questions despite having both the teacher and the book suggest you are torn between two (or more) courses of action. You are indecisive and cannot make up your own mind.
