Do you sometimes have issues with dream recall?

So I've been keeping a dream journal, and saying to myself "I will remember my dreams, I will remember my dreams" before I go to sleep. This has been working pretty well, but for the last couple of days, I've been having trouble recalling dreams.

Have you guys had issues with dream recall, like a dry spell or something? Does this happen sometimes?

yes, i go through periods of recalling 2-5 dreams a night for a week and then the next night or two *poof* nothing!

ive learned to just be relaxed about it and be sure to write down ANYTHING at all in my dj that comes to mind upon waking, no matter how nonsensical.

I've missed one or two days of recall at times, but nothing strung-out.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

These are both reassuring. Maybe me not relaxing is the problem - I'm worrying about not catching the dreams and stuff, so that might be why I'm having such trouble. (Also my dog. He doesn't seem to realize that Mommy can't let him out right then.)

I often have weeks at a time when I cannot remember my dreams for the life of me. Stress certainly is a factor. If I have more on my plate then usual, my dream recall might just be totally shot. Or often times I might not have time in the morning to sit down a try to remember my dream.

Nothing unusual about this in my experience. I've been keeping a notebook for some years now and I still have nights where I recall nothing, sometimes two or three consecutively.

I have never found the "I will remember..." mantra effective. What works best for me is to wake slowly and to not think (which is counter-intuitive), rather to listen to external sounds and generally connect wit the present. Dreams tend to wander into consciousness of their own accord.
