      You can do it!!

Just keep it up and you can be under 200 by June or July...and a lot less by the end of the year. And those LandRollers look like fun. I hope you're able to get those and enjoy them. So you are going out of the country?

But I have a love/hate relationship with the food. I love the taste but the texture turns me off lol. It amuses and annoys me so it's not something I eat very often.
If you don't like the texture try blending it up like I did. With the strawberries it was like a dessert. Reallllly good.

I wish I was talented in the kitchen TwoShadows...
Thanks. I have learned a few creative things over the last few years. But if you haven't noticed I do repeat a lot of foods. I often make up a large amount and then eat off it for days. Makes it easy. And I don't mind the repetition.

I hope that once I am into a maintenance stage I will be able to add even more creative variety.

I'm going to teach English in Russia for a year. I'm excited!

And I'm glad it's getting lighter here (still waiting for it to get warmer). The only advantage of daylight-savings time is that it's not as dark at 6pm when I want to take a walk.... Now, to just take those walks

I haven't had a lot of time, so I haven't been checking in here. I'm sticking to all of my goals, though I've been hitting weights and cardio workouts 3 times a week. I've been active on weekends with either bike rides, landscaping, or even a long walk around the zoo

I've been remembering to eat more, especially before a workout, so I don't lose any weight. I don't think I have time to put on weight and then cut back down in time for summertime nakedness, so I'll just try to maintain. I'll wait until next winter to start weight gain again... gainagain.

I've solved my cardio-boredom with audiobooks. I load a chapter onto my ipod, then hit play right as I start up on the stationary bike. I'm not allowed to start my cooldown until the chapter is over, which is normally around 20-30 minutes. Maybe in a couple weeks, I'll up it to 2 chapters. Right now, I just can't invest that much time, in addition to my weight routine.

Hey TS (or anyone, really), does Stevia taste like an artificial sweetener or does it taste like sugar? I am immensely picky when it comes to the taste as that artificial flavor just makes me go "Bleh!" I really wouldn't mind using an artificial sweetener if it didn't have that flavor, so I'm curious.

I can only speak for myself, but I don't notice any bad flavor or after taste when I use it. It is highly concentrated so it doesn't taste good to put a drop straight on your tongue, but when mixed into things it adds a lot of flavor.

It has really helped me. I have not eaten any sugar since last Thanksgiving--and I mean nothing at all that has added sugar in it. That means I make almost all my food from scratch and don't eat out much or eat packaged things.

When I crave something sweet I can usually be satisfied by using something with stevia. The toffee flavor is great on sliced apples. The chocolate flavor is great in milk. The orange flavor is great in cottage cheese. If I add a few drops of grape stevia to my water with apple cider vinegar it tastes a lot like grape soda. And that is just a start.

Anyway, it has just made it a lot easier to stick to my healthy eating goals. I won't eat any other artificial sweetener (for health reasons), but I feel good about the stevia.

I really like agave nectar for a non-sugar sweetener. Low glycemic index, too.

I've been keeping up with my workouts when not working, just haven't had time to get online.

Everybody keep up the good work!

If you guys want something sweet, try Miracle Fruit. It makes anything sour taste like sugar. Come to my party on the 21st, and I will be serving it up:

Date of joining fitness club: 2/13/09
      Current weight: 223.8 (+1.8)

Fitness Report: Um, not so good. I went for my usual Wednesday walk. Shins hurt like crazy again and the tendon behind my right knee was sore the next day. Nothing else was really done this week. Overall effort: 2/10

Nutrition Report: I could have done better, but in my defense, we did have company pretty much the whole week, so we made more food and higher calorie food than we normally would have. Also, I went out to eat twice, stuffing myself the first time (Mexican), and doing fairly well the second time (Chinese: broccoli in garlic sauce with white rice). The Girlscout cookies didn't help, though Overall effort: 6/10

Overall, I'm feeling pretty good. I still need to start getting to bed earlier, but I can't seem to make myself stop writing or watching a show when I get in bed. I have enjoyed having family home and am looking forward to going to Portland this weekend. I've smiled and laughed a lot.

Goal for this coming week: At least 20 minutes of concentrated effort 3 times this week, be it through walking, DDR, or some other activity.

Mid-range goal: Be down to 218 by the time I go up to Montana (3/28/09). That's only 5 pounds!!! SO CLOSE!

Long-term goal: Be under 200 pounds by the end of the year. Heck, yah! Oh, and I'll reward myself with a pair of LandRoller Skates, at least when I get back to the US.
It'll get easier, Ames. As far as getting to bed earlier, the more you get out and do physically, the earlier you'll want to go to bed. When I'm working Mondays, I can barely make it through Heroes before I'm out like a light.

Those LandRoller skates look awesome; I just might have to get me a pair of those one of these days. If Cesar Millan uses them, I'm in.

Soon guys, I'm going to start regularly posting a list of current DV fit club members and another list of currently ACTIVE fit club members. By active, that means the fit clubbers who are following the fit club expectations more so than not. (I probably won't make the latter list )

      COMPETITION!!

First one to lose 15 lbs. wins $100.00 in cash

Catch: Must have a picture taken of yourself on a scale every 7 days so that we may keep visual track of your progress. (face not required to be shown but your name must be written down on paper and be visible within the picture.) Also must have paypal account. And yes...this is real.

If you are entering this competition. You can only enter this competition by saying so.

      - Must consistently keep updating your log on the days you've set for working out.
      - Must verbally state within the club that you are entering this competition.
      - Must have paypal account.

Prize offering starts 2/14/2009 and ends 4/14/2009.

Edit: This club is not only about losing weight, but eating healthy, building muscle/tone and maintaining a fit lifestyle. Different competitions will be held from time to time to add incentive towards completing ones goals. If you've set a goal for yourself to lose weight or tone up your abs...why not get a cash prize for it in the process? Some competitions may be something along the lines of "Turn your 4 pack into a 6 pack", "Tone those arms" etc. All competitions will be something easily verifiable by pictures, camera and if needed...both.

Thanks for sharing that. It would be fun for me to get to taste some really sweet things. I wonder if I will ever completley get over my cravings for sweet things. Today I had an LD where I took advantage of the fact that dream sweets are harmless. I stuffed myself with ice cream sandwiches and Twinkies.... Tasted great. Except I woke up and craved bad things. But I fixed it by eating a bowl of cottage cheese and usweetened cocoa power with a few drops of stevia. I hadn't tried that before and it turned out very satisfying. So really the real trick is to find things that are healthy and satisfying. So instead of grabbing that chemical filled Twinkie, find a healthier treat that will take away the craving.

Yes! That's my other sweetener of choice, and I will go back to using that when I get to a more maintenance stage. You can use that in a lot of recipes. Great stuff!

I have kept up the good eating through the weekend. I haven't done as much exercise. Although, I did lift a bunch of heavy posts yesterday. Maybe that will count as arm exercise.

Edit: I may post a picture this week. I have plans with friends to go Kayaking on Tuesday on Lake Powell. So my hope is to get a little color on my pale skin. Glowing white muscle just doesn't look as lean...

Aye, I need a tan too. I'm paler than your average white grub. Except for the backs of my forearms, and that cuts off just above my wrists and elbows, because of my gloves and shirt sleeves, haha.

What kind of kayak do you have? I've been putting off buying one until I get my own car, but I do love paddling a lake, with that effortless (not quite) gliding feeling, the only sound the dripping of the water from your paddle...

Blah... today has been an incredibly lazy day. Hopefully, "tomorrow" will be better. My XBox has been frustrating the crap out of me or I would have been asleep much sooner (trying to figure out why the purchased content on my 360 wasn't working on my 360 Elite except for when I'm connected to the internet. *grrr* after much trouble shooting, I read some info that said that's the only way it will work. Looks like I have to repurchase my add-ons to be able to play off line )

      Staying Up All Night...Working Out.

At first when I saw this, I thought that it was implying working out while in lucid dreams. That gave me a good laugh, but is also an interesting idea.

Hey, I want to participate in the fit club! Please note that I am EXTREMELY out of shape right now, so go easy on me haha. But I do expect constructive criticism of course.

Also, I am unable to get to the grocery store every week sometimes, so that's my excuse for eating unhealthy sometimes (I live closer to a convenient store). Finally, I am NOT the heavy duty exercising type of person. The extent of my exercise will be: sit ups, dancing, and lots of walking.

      Ok, here's my profile:

      Profile for joining
      Name (Username suffices): Valia
      Current buddy (if applicable): None
      Want a buddy?: Sure!
Cheat Day (Optional): Sunday, and a certain time of the month
Physical Goals: get into shape, lose some weight
Days you'll exercise: at least 4 days a week doing the below exercises (exempt if it's below 50 outside or raining!)
Cardio Routine: umm, brisk walking and sit ups
      Weight Routine: same as cardio
Current weight: 130 (I don't have a scale so I won't be able to post my weight everyday)
Why are you joining? To lose weight, get into shape, gain energy and confidence, and get encouragement from others and to encourage others
