      Keep your arm flexed, it should prevent your arm from fully extending. Your instructor must not have known much about the human anatomy if he had you doing that. This is how far you should go: put your arm straight out and lock the elbow. Now unlock the elbow and relax your arm, it should come back just a little bit, that's where you should stop your punch.

      It's Tuesday! Weekly report time.

      Name: A. Star

      Current weight: TBA

      Fitness Report: Bad week for me. I was so sore last week that Monday was spent sleeping. Tuesday threw me off as I was in a bad mood, and things grew busy and I didn't want to take the time to work out. I wasn't entirely sedentary and did go on my weekly Wednesday walk (during with my shins were KILLING me!). Overall effort 3/10.

      Nutrition Report: Could have been better and could have been worse. I helped out and ate at a dinner at our church on Saturday and went out to eat on Sunday (after already having eaten). I chose a salad, but should have asked them to leave the deep-fried salad bowl off I was able to resist the temptation to have a whole muffin when they were brought in to work, being satisfied with 1/4.

      Overall, I could have worked harder, but my mood is much improved from last week.

      Goal for this coming week: At least 20 minutes of concentrated effort 4 times this week, be it through walking, DDR, or some other activity.

      Mid-range goal: Lose another 10 pounds by the time I go up to Montana (3/28/09). I want to fit into a nice dress by the time I go.

      Long-term goal: Be under 200 pounds by the end of the year. Heck, yah!

      So I didn't weigh in yesterday. Instead my mom and I drove an hour to go to Costco and stock up on stuff for when she has her surgery (having a parathyroid gland removed) and my brother and sister-in-law come next week.

      Going for my weekly Wednesday walk tonight, though

      EDIT: My friend had a cold so she wasn't going to go for a walk, but I went anyway and enjoyed the peace and quiet

      Health: 4 Anxiety is doing MUCH better today but I woke up extremely sore and I had strained my left hip the other day from being stupid and it's extremely sore. I could barely walk on it yesterday. Because of Ehlers Danlos, I can "pop" my shoulders and hips out of place (not really, but that's the closest comparision I know). I KNOW better than to do it though but I was playing with my hips the other day (popping them in and out while passively stretching) and I pushed it too far.

      Question:
      I finally bought a scale and it confirms I'm still at 128 pounds. But when I sleep, I sleep on my stomach with my hands under my thighs and my hip bones jab into my arms more than usual which indicates weight loss. While exercising etc can my weight redistribute or something? I don't feel or look more toned so I'm somewhat confused.

      I also ate a cheese stick. I don't know why I frequently fail to remember eating them lol

      I haven't even been online in a week, I've been so tired from roofing work. My arms are looking pretty good, and I had no trouble carrying 80+lb bundles of shingles across a roof yesterday, so I'd say I'm making progress. My legs ache, and I'm getting noticeable muscle, I've been getting up at 7am and hitting the hay by 10-11pm at night, and drinking water during the day. I'll post up some pics soon, I guess.

      Hope your mom's surgery goes well, Am&#233;!

      Her surgery went well. My dad went to the hospital to check on her yesterday and it sounds like she's enjoying the morphene. She'll be home today and my dad's taking the day off to attend to her every need... or watch her sleep.

      I also made myself take a walk yesterday. The idea of taking a walk around our neighborhood isn't all that appealing since I live on a hill and it takes about ten minutes to get anywhere flat. But it was good and only snowed for about two minutes before letting up. Good thing I brought a hooded sweatshirt with me. It was a half-hour well spent.

      Well, if you gained the same amount of muscle as fat you lost it won't show up as any difference on the scale, but you will be so much healthier for it. It may take a little longer before you really start seeing the muscle growth, but it'll come. So keep it up!

      I'm going through a bit of the same thing. The scale weight is not going to tell me my progress. So I'm going by bodyfat percentage. You might want to look into buying some calipers.

      Wow..sounds like you are getting quite a workout everyday. That's great you are seeing progress. And that's the best kind of progress--to notice a difference in how you feel when you do real work.

      So, Good job, MoS. It would be fun to see pics when you can get them up.

      I just decided to go join a gym a few days ago...but actually joining it wont happen until later on tonight.

      Cheat Day (Optional): Hmm. I guess Sunday.
      Physical Goals: To get in shape I guess. I would like to be under 200 by the time my brother gets married in august. So I have to lose like 70 pounds in less than 6 months. I went on a fitness crazy trail about two years ago and no matter how hard I worked or how little I ate I couldn't get below 189.
      Days you'll exercise: Monday through Friday at least three days a week.
      Cardio Routine: An hour on the days I work out.
      Weight Routine: None.
      Current weight: ....260ish (definately below 270)
      Why are you joining? Because I figure why not. I'm a renown yo-yoer. I've gone from 250, to 190, to 250, to 231, all the way up to where I am now so losing weight isnt' a problem for me. The issue is that I move into different houses alot and every time I move I gain a lot of weight.

      Sandform, sounds like you are a pro at losing weight. I hope this place can help you get to where you want to be again.

      LifeStandsStill, I'll bet it won't take long for you to firm up, especially if you don't have much weight to lose. Just find some workouts that work for you and be consistant. And good luck on your quitting smoking.
