We should all be grateful to SnakeCharmer, Xei and Photolysis and all of the other wonderful people that take the time to honestly confront and debunk these snake-oil salesman instead of replying with the sharp and sarcastic comments that this stuff really deserves. Dealing with trash like this is dirty business and they are really showing what wonderful human beings they are by taking the time to do it. They're not even getting paid for it.

      Wow it's just a forum.
This was that cult, and the prisoners said it had always existed and always would exist, hidden in distant wastes and dark places all over the world until the time when the great priest Cthulhu, from his dark house in the mighty city of R'lyeh under the waters, should rise and bring the earth again beneath his sway.

That's true but there is still the question of truth. I'm just saying that it's one thing to sit back and take pot-shots at stupid, ignorant people. It's quite another thing to meaningfully confront them with the precise details of their ignorance. Every time I try to do it, my head just ends up hurting. That's why I respect the people that do it so well. That's all I'm trying to say.

Now let us study the number six and the hexagon. Six represents form, utility, and function. Hexagons are the stablest structures that us the least material and have the most space. That is why bees build their hives with hexagonal cells out of bees wax.

      Construct a hexagon:

The above picture is Metatron's cube. From this we derive all of the Five Platonic Solids. I can talk about the Platonic solids more in my next post. Here are the five Platonic Solids:

How are the structures of snowflakes anything to do with "sacred geometry"?

They're governed by the chemical and physical properties of water, namely that Ice has a hexagonal structure to it at the molecular level.

This also ignores countless crystaline forms that are not hexagonal.

More often than not I see people saying stuff that they barely understand and than instead of trying to help them understand it they come in here with a holier than thou attitude and maybe they explain how it works but not before calling them stupid, moronic, lots of you don't know what the hell or fuck you're talking about..

I certainly respect people who want to inform the masses of intelligence, but not usually how people on this forum go about it.. more disgusting and similar to the way Christians push their beliefs on others..

Two wrongs don't make a right.. I guess.. They may not understand geometry very well but that doesn't really give them the right be condescending... You can simply explain to them the way it works..

Anyway this "sacred geometry" is only loosely related to the geometry, probably the reason this topic isn't in the MATH/SCIENCE forum... We all know the super "science" hate anything "new age", "mystical", etc.. so they get kind of moody..

This golden ratio is often found in nature is my understanding, but not found in everything..

Yeah, I am not saying that this is Science. I never called any body stupid, moronic, or an idiot. Xei accused me of calling him an idiot. I never said that anything here is Science, just geometry. I would also like to learn more about sacred geometry, as I'll be the first to admit that I am far from an expert in this field. Obviously some people love to point this out.

Leave the word sacred out of this and then just ask, what do snowflakes have to do with geometry. It is an example of a hexagonal crystal. I am not saying every crystal is hexagonal. No, Salt is cubical. I just posted a picture of some snowflakes to show an example of a perfect hexagon in nature. I understand that crystals take their shape because of the molecular bonds between the atoms and that has to do with the number of electrons in the atoms outer shell. I am not ignoring crystals that are not hexagonal. The post was about hexagons. And hexagonal crystals are some of the strongest crystals. When we get to number seven I will tell why there are no crystals with seven sides.

I never have a problem with anybody lacking knowledge. I do have a problem with people lying about knowledge that they are lacking in. If you want to know what the golden ratio actually is you should ask about it or read about it. Not preach about it and then evade questions...

Geometry is a science by the way. We take a very small number of observations and then through proof we build up a complex system of truths.

I do know what the Golden Ratio is. I can draw the golden spiral, I can draw the golden rectangle, I have created a pair of golden ratio calipers. I am not preaching. I am sharing information. If some of the information isn't backed up by your facts it is backed up by my facts and I have posted it. If my facts are wrong then I didn't know it because I wasn't the one who discovered it. I have seen you post the wrong facts as well, so we are all wrong sometimes and I am guessing that you are not a scientist either. But the story of Sacred Geometry and the creation of the polygons and three dimensional objects is the important point of Sacred Geometry. It isn't if the orbit of a planet's ratio to another isn't exactly the golden ratio or a little off or not. Sure there may be some contradictions. Sure there may be a snail whose shell is lopsided and isn't a perfect golden spiral. Sure the planets might not match exactly, I DON't REALLY KNOW, I was just passing on what I heard. But I know that the body of a human is based on the golden ratio, but some people are shorter, some people are fatter, so nothing in Nature is perfect but it is based on a perfect geometry. A hurricane might be more eliptical than a tru golden spiral or it might be too fuzzy to truly measure accurately but that doesn't mean it isn't based on the golden spiral.

I would be interested in hearing some facts from you about geometric forms in Nature.

Sure, maybe geometry is a science? Or a branch of mathematics? But, don't steer the conversation away from SACRED GEOMETRY. There is a point to sacred geometry and I'd like to share what I know it to be, which is the story. I haven't even gotten to the story yet. And just because you don't believe in the meaning of the word SACRED doesn't mean anything. I am not against science. Science is not against me. I am not preaching creationism. I am not saying that because a ice crystal is a hexagon that it is sacred and it is not created by chemical bonds on a molecular level. Sacred and science are not contradictory to me. I am not a scientist however, I am a dreamer. I don't care if you don't believe in sacred geometry, I am not trying to convert you, I am not attacking your beliefs, I am not forcing you to read my posts.

I mean look, I post a picture of some snowflakes and Photolysis immediately points out that I didn't post any pictures of crystals that don't have six sides. Is the point of that to prove that I am not scientific or objective? That I am ignoring other crystals? That I am making something up? I can't post a picture of a pattern in Nature? Is it offensive? I didn't even make any wierd claims, I just was making a connection between a hexagon and the perfect hexagonal nature of the ice crystal. The cool thing about crystals is that they are so precise, as opposed to say a hurricane or a tree where there are slight mutations. A snow crystal will always be geometrically exact (I think), right? I mean you will not find an octogonal or a rhomboid or triangular or irregular shaped ice crystal.

The problem I have is that I have no idea what the difference is supposed to be between 'sacred geometry' and just normal geometry. Can you please explain what it is?

No, that's not knowledge of what the golden ratio is. That's a set of pretty pictures related to the golden ratio.

It's like saying you know what electricity is after looking at some pictures of fridges, light bulbs, and power stations.

Can you please define the golden ratio?

Can you derive the golden ratio?

If you can't then look it up because it's genuinely much more interesting than just making stuff up.

I'm not sure which 'wrong facts' you're talking about but I do regard myself as a scientist. That is my career path and I also live by the principles of scientific inquiry. I'm currently reading mathematics at the University of Cambridge which is pretty much the best university for mathematics in the world, so I am at least slightly qualified to say that I know what I'm talking about.

I heard that nobody knows what electricity really is. I know that it is the flow of electrons, right? But I heard that nobody knows what a magnetic field is and why there is a positive and a negative charge. And what that means.

As far as the golden spiral, when you say derive, what do you mean? Do you mean draw? It seems you don't mean draw one. It seems you don't mean construct one. Do you mean algebraicly? I used to be good at algebra but not anymore. I know how to make one geometrically and that is what I showed. I don't have a scanner or else I'd scan some of my own drawings.

Oh, you are talking about the golden ratio. Not the golden spiral. I just scrolled up to reread your post. The golden ratio is if you split a line in such a way that the first part (A) is to the second part (B) as the whole line is to A. Or if you see the post about the pentagon I made it shows how to derive the golden ratio from a pentagram. I understand the golden ratio because I am an artist and a musician and one knows these things if one is an artist and a musician. Look at music. It is like 5 is to 3 as 8 is to 5 as 13 is to 8, etc.... It is harmony and beauty. It is perfection.

So what I mean about the difference between Sacred Geometry and normal Geometry is this: Sacred Geometry is like a parable or a dream to be interpreted. It is a story that has practical and philosophical applications. Normal Geometry is shapes and angles and points, etc. The story or Parable of sacred Geometry is the story of how everything was created from one thing. It is a parable, it is not literal. It is a myth, not a fact. It is the union between the left brain (logic, math, geometry) and the right brain (myth, intuition, creativity). Music is like that as well. Music has theory and technique (left brain) and creativity and inspiration (right brain).

The story that sacred geometry tells is the journey from 1 to 10. It is a parable for the creation of the Universe. And each number has archetypes that it embodies. There is no point in arguing science against things like parables and archetypes. Just like there is no point in using archetypes and parables to argue against science. They are telling truth in different domains. Science is true and myths are true. I don't mean that myths are facts, no! Myths are not literal! No! There never was a garden of Eden or a Tree Of Knowledge, etc. But the Myth of the Garden of Eden is like a dream that has lots of meaning in it depending in how you interpret it. Myths are stories to teach the subconscious.

Nice Dannon. You said you were right-brained...that's amazing how you can play music by ear. I can to it but it's mostly simple melodies..but I feel like I"m getting better, their more complex now than they were years ago.

Speaking of Myths, Dannon, What do you think about the Atlantis and Lemuria civilizations...IF they were real. I think during that time period, right-brain and left-brain were united. A destroyed Utopia. Divers have discovered ruins and think it may be the lost civilization.

Why does it have to mean anything? What does 'mean' mean to an electron?

I think Atlantis and Lemuria are great myths.

I don't know if it is true or not. i need more evidence.
Maybe Atlantis and Lemuria are memories of the future?
Right brained and left brained should always be untied. Unite them in yourself, and I hope the other skeptics unite it within themselves. Only both rationality and intuition can tell the truth...Who knows the truth? Not I, and Surely not the skeptics... but the truth is that... A long time ago there were advanced civilizations...

The Sphinx in Egypt was built at least 25,000 years ago. The pyramids were built much later. These are facts...

The sphinx was built BEFORE the ice age. But... SO WHAT? I don't know! All I know, is that IF... Atlantis existed like it is remembered... the SPHINX was built in that time. And the pyramids were built after Atlantis fell.

LEMURIA? That is even harder to understand.
(Now the skeptics will see that I accept the possibility of Atlantis and Lemuria ever existing so they will attack me for being unscientific and they will point out that civilization existed only for the last 10,000 years and that I am a "NEW-AGER! etc...) As if this is NEW information at all!

      In fact...
There is an ancient history that is passed on orally. Find someone who knows this ANCIENT (not New-Age) history and learn from them. And whether or not something is NEW or OLD does not determine its validity.

The video I posted says that Lemuria may have been found, some scientists agree.

Maybe Atlantis and Lemuria are memories of the future?
Maybe. I'm thinking it was a utopia that was destroyed. Right-brain and left-brain fully united. A heaven on earth. Why, or more importantly HOW an entire continent was destroyed is the question. Assuming that both these civilizations were real. The legend says that the survivors fled to other parts of the world, some fled to Central America making the Mayans. It's said that the ancient cultures of Egypt and the Mayas were linked with Atlantis, which in turn was linked with Lemuria. It's all interesting though.

Your right about uniting left-brain and right-brain in yourself, I've been doing this lately and it's been great.

Well, these are just stories, my friend. I find it hard to believe that scientists agree, but maybe some.

And as far as the myths go, Atlantis was far from a Utopia. They had slaves and they worshiped the left brain and technology, like some skeptics we know. In fact, some myths (but who knows how true this is or not, these are just myths) say that the Native Americans were the Atlanteans. I don't think I can agree with this.

But anyway,, the Atlanteans used technology that replaced the human mind while the Lemurians used technology that advanced the human mind. The Atlanteans settled Egypt and great Britain while the Lemurians settled Japan, China, Tibet, India, etc.

If you look at the diference between the technologies of the two hemispheres (Europe and Asia) you will see that Europe is definately far more left brained and suprerior in logic and rationality. The Atlantean legacy has created the calculator.

However, the Lemurain legacy in Asia has developed Intuition and creativity to a much greater degree. Asia has produced the ABACUS.

Now the difference between an abacus and a calculator is that you don't have to use your brain to use a calculator. But you have to use your brain to use an abacaus. And an Abacus is actually a lot more faster than a calculator
      ..

Now, let's get a little NEW AGEY here. I am not afraid...

The NEW AGE folks say that the Grays are the ALIENS that come and ABDUCT people who have the UNIVERSAL BLOOD TYPE. So that they can Perform experiments to try to isolate the GENES of EMOTIONS. It is interesting to note that Emotions belong to the RIGHT BRAIN. Well, these aliens, as the MYTH goes, have lost their emotions and need to find them to survive. So they are looking in our genes. (which is a very rational way to look for emotions). Look at the story here. Look at the myth. Don't worry if it is fact or not. It is a story. I admit, it is hard to believe, it probably isn't true.
But, it is a story that speaks to our subconscious.

true, Atlantis was probably left-brained, and Lemuria was the right brain and left brain united utopia. But I read somewhere that Atlantis may have been the alien city, during that time the Annunaki ruled. On Wikipedia it says that Lemuria may have been the homeland of reptilian-like beings..or the Annunaki. These theories keep contradicting themselves.

If you look at the diference between the technologies of the two hemispheres (Europe and Asia) you will see that Europe is definately far more left brained and suprerior in logic and rationality. The Atlantean legacy has created the calculator.

yea i always thought that the planet earth has it's own left brain right brain, left brain being western hemisphere, and right brain being eastern hemisphere...in the east is where all the mystical and spiritual knowledge is.

Who knows about Lemuria and Atlantis really....I figure any real truth is within, accessing the universal mind. Which is incredibly hard seeing as you have to meditate deeply with no thoughts for an extended period of time. I've tried this, but every time I lay down and meditate and close off conscious thoughts, there is a another layer of thoughts under that, the subconscious thoughts..while it may not sound like any thing is there, it's there all right, you sort of feel them subtly. Like you can think a thought in a meditative state, but it's not conscious it just kinda, quick, like it was forced into my head or something. CAN you even stop subconscious thoughts? I figure the only way to truly do this is to meditate within a lucid dream seeing as your are already in a subconscious state.

Maybe you can do this by concentrating on mandalas constructed using sacred geometry...while you won't see a mandala move consciously, a deeper part of you, an altered perception definitely see's the mandala moving. This is supposed to cut down the left brain analytical chattering down...and give the chance for the right-brain to dominate.

You cannot actively stop thoughts for any length of time with an act of will.
Various meditation techniques are to focus the mind on only one thought or observing things passively. The point if you are observing thoughts is to just observe them passively without identifying with them, without clinging or avoiding them. Just to let them float through your mind like clouds in the sky. Over time they mellow out. But the point is to become aware of who you are beyond the thoughts. You do not have to stop thoughts to do this.
A good meditation technique is to observe your breathing. If you find yourself distracted by thoughts just go back to observing the breath without thinking about it.

Yes, Atlantis and Lemuria could just be myths or possibly actual historical places before the last ice age. We don't know. Anyway, since we don't have any evidence all we have is myths.

As a metaphor, the sky and clouds is good. The mind is like the sky, the clouds are thoughts. Normally we are living in a cloud of thoughts. Through meditation you just stop pulling the thoughts to you, you just let them flow. Eventually you will get a glimpse of the clear blue sky beyond. This is what is known as Satori.

By and by, there will be more space between each cloud. The space is what to pay attention to, not the clouds. The space between thoughts is where a Buddha is born. Eventaully you will be able to see a thought coming from a long way off. Your mind will be opened and spacious. This space is Samadhi.

      Of course you can.

It is the goal in many form of meditations. When the thoughts cease, I am just a being. It is experiencing that.

      Cool Let's Study Real Geometry

      Groups

Let's begin with the definition of a group. We will write our groups as (G, *) where G is a set (this is just a collection of things) and * is a binary operation on G. This means that * takes two elements of G and returns a third. Furthermore, (G, *) must satisfy three axioms:

      1. associativity: for all a, b and c in G, (a*b)*c = a*(b*c)
      2. identity element: there exists an element e in G such that for all elements a of G, e*a = a
      3. existence of inverses: For every element a of G, there exists an element which we write as a^-1 or as -a such that a*a^-1 = e.

      Examples of Groups

      1. (Z, +)

Z is the set of integers. + is the usual addition of integers. 0 is the identity element, if a is an integer than -a is it's inverse as a + (-a) = 0.
      2. (R+, *)

R+ is the set of real numbers x such that x > 0. * is the usual multiplication of real numbers. 1 is the identity and x^-1 = 1/x. Then x*1/x = 1
      3. (Z[X], +)

Z[X] is the set of polynomials in the variable X with integer coefficients. + is the component wise addition of polynomials. For example, if f = anXn + ... + a1X + a0 and g = bnXn + ... + b1X + b0, then f + g = (an + bn)Xn + ... + (a1 + b1)X + (a0 + b0). If terms are missing, then just fill in with zeros. One can add polynomials of any degree. Then the identity element is just the zero polynomial with all of it's coefficients equal to zero. If f has coefficients ai then the coefficients of -f are -ai. Then f + (-f) = 0 where zero in this context is the zero polynomial and not the number zero.

      The Dihedral Groups

Now we can get to a little geometry. Let's define a symmetry of a shape to be something that I can do to the shape without changing it. It's not too formal but I can clean it up a little if anybody wants. For example, if I have a circle and I rotate it around it's center, that is a symmetry of the circle: unless some mark is placed on the circle, there is no way to know that it has been rotated. Given a geometric shape and the set of it's symmetries, lets define a binary operation. If a and b are symmetries of our shape (let's call it C), then if I do a and then do b that is a symmetry well. This operation is called composition. For example, if I have a circle and I rotate it 30 degrees and then rotate it -10 degrees, it's like I rotated it 20 degrees.

This operation and the set of symmetries form a group. I'll leave the verification of the details as an exercise: real math is not a spectator sport.

The n-th Dihedral group is the set of symmetries of the regular n-gon along with the binary operation of composition. Let's call the group (Dn, *). Can you find all of it's elements if we take n to be 3?

If there is any curiosity, we can continue.

Have you had any success with ceasing thoughts...I try this while laying down but it just doesn't seem to hold out for that long. I just get tired of laying in one position for so long, maybe I should stretch next time.

I read if you can meditate and cut down conscious thoughts for just a little while, and ask yourself a question, your subconscious will answer...but not in words, in emotions, but you still can understand like it was in words. If you can successfully communicate with the subconscious you won't need subliminal messages to change your subconscious. I think it's supposed to be maybe a dream guide or spirit guide or something.

There's a really slow, but interesting discussion about this on ld4all.
The article about communicating with subconscious is here though:
      http://www.psipog.net/art-communicating-with-subc.html

      It goes something like:

1.) Meditate ( close off conscious thoughts for as long as you can ) until you are deeply relaxed
      2.) Ask yourself a question
      3.) Observe the silence
4.) Subconscious will answer back in a lump of emotions, in which you'll know what it means.

If you can do this you can just ask your subconscious to give you a lucid dream, or tell it to. And it will automatically do it. Just like subliminal messages except you can communicate directly. This is how affirmations work, and being able to wake yourself up at a specific time without an alarm clock. These affirmations go straight to the subconscious.

I had an experience with this but it was brief, very brief. It takes a considerate amount of concentration to close of conscious thoughts, since we're predominately left-brained(analytical).

      Yes I have.

This is what I wrote in another forum to help another one.

"I knew of Rapidshare, but always thought you needed Premium to upload :p

I have (for a start) uploaded the most productive one. A Theta brainwave inducing Binaural beats mp3.

It's basically a 30 min. long sound file, which will make it easier to reach the theta state.

      Generally about theta state:

      "Theta Brainwaves
Theta brainwaves occur in the 4 to 7.9 cps frequency range. To the non-meditator, Theta is primarily experienced as the mental state just prior to dropping off to sleep, and also REM (rapid eye movement) sleep.

But to the experienced meditator with a well-established Alpha state, Theta is often characterized by a peaceful sense of bliss and well-being marked by spontaneous creativity and deeply meaningful personal or transcendental imagery."
      http://www.quantum-self.com/index.php?s=theta

An interesting article about these different states: http://www.healingmusic.org/Library/...sciousness.asp

Theta entrainment is also used to reach the "point consciousness" state, a very productive state where much can be done. I think should be one of the goals with the use of the sound file and generally with meditation.

What I recommend with the sound file is, make sure you won't be interrupted. Have some stereo-headphones which are comfortable to have on while lying in bed. You can sit up, but it might be easier to relax the whole body in lying position. Make it completely dark, and don't have to much cloths on when in the bed. When in position, close your eyes, relax, take deep breaths with your nose and exhale with the mouth for 3-5 minutes. Try to calm your mind, relax, empty the mind of thoughts. Don't dwell into the noisy thoughts, let them go. Relax, go with the flow of the sound. Enjoy the blackness, the quietness. Your little own free-time with your own consciousness. After some minutes you will feel a subtle change in the mind, or strange sensations in the body. That's fine. You should soon reach the point consciousness state. The state of no thoughts, the the void, just you at the BEING level. This is a very peaceful and blissful state, you won't forget the experience of it.

Keep trying, it should get easier a long the way. Try to then meditate in noisy conditions, outside, or just when you want.

      Good luck!

(the file can only be downloaded 10 times from rapidshare)

Thanks Special I will check it out.

Hardwire, study music theory before you ask questions about how it relates to sacred geometry. The circle of fifths sounds geometric and mathematical, and it is. However, you need to understand music theory first. First learn how to make a scale. Each note in a scale is called 1, 2, 3, 4 ,5 , 6. 7. 8 (1).
Dannon the weirdest thing happened yesterday, I was learning music theory for the first time, I think I pretty much got it down. So i turned on my midi keyboard and booted up reason 4. I was practicing chords and there was a certain chord I played that caused the pineal gland to flex. I was like w..t..f.., at the same time it was really euphoric though.

I played the chord and it caused the pineal gland to flex, the same way it flexes when we enter sleep paralysis except when i played the chord it only happened in my head.

I know this sounds retarded as hell but it's true, since the pineal gland is known to release DMT/melatonin, do you think it's possible for someone to play the certain chords on the piano that will cause you to literally go into a meditative state or even a half-psychedelic state.

I read this on a Physics forum.

      1) There are certain areas of the brain like the pineal gland that produce chemicals like seratonin, melatonin, DMT, etc. These chemicals can produce euphoric effects on our nervous system similar to the effects that meditation brings on. Also, these chemicals reside in discrete locations of the brain like the pineal gland and can be triggered to release into your blood stream or cerebro fluid . Here comes the tricky part... a process called 'resonance' can 'shake' the pineal gland and other parts of the brain, and get them to release seratonin, melatoni, DMT, etc. Resonance can be explained simply like this: Imagine you are in a small Jacuzzi and you thrust your body forward towards the North wall and the water rushes forward. If you then thrust your body backwards as the wave bounces off of the North wall and comes Southwards, the size of the wave increases dramatically. If you then allow the wave to hit the South wall and return going Northwards, and you move forwards with the wave, the wave gets even BIGGER! This is resonance. Resonance is literally the wave reflecting back onto itself perfectly so that it gets bigger and bigger and bigger as you ebb back and forth with it. So then, think of the music you hear as a sound wave, and your pineal gland as the jacuzzi. As the sound wave enters your pineal gland it bounces back and forth, back and forth. But since more and more soundwaves keep coming in from the instruments, they overlap perfectly (resonate) in your pineal gland until the total wave becomes so strong that it literally shakes your pineal gland and the chemicals get knocked into your bloodstream and cerebral fluid! That is the secret to music!

      2) Scientists have known for decades that the brain vibrates at a certain rate called your 'brain wave'. There are 5 different kinds of brain waves: 1) Alpha waves (8-13 beats per second) occur in relaxed adults who are awake with their eyes closed. 2) Beta waves (13-22 bps) occur in an adult who is concentrating seriously. 3) Delta waves (0.5-4 bps) occur in either sleeping adults, or in young infants. 4) Theta waves (4-8 bps) occur in children. 5) And Gamma waves (22-30 bps) are somewhat of a mystery. My suggestion, is that the music that produces the OHM (7-8 bps) you talked about may actually resonate with your Alpha brain wave (recall: 8-13 bps) and thus it may shake the brain sufficiently to cause nearly all areas of your brain to 'dump' their euphoric chemicals into your bloodstream and cerebral fluid.

So we can get high off music huh

So yea Dannon, I know how to find major and minor scales now, and I know how to play a few chords. I'm also currently working on chord progressions.

Anyone that plays music I can find out which chord it was that did this and post it here.
