The correct answer is... B. Do you think the smile and the smooth talking are going to save us, despite the socialism revolution he is heading? We are going 150 MPH toward a brick wall that is now in sight, and Obama is trying to pass a socialism revolution disguised as a stimulus bill that has provisions that involve things like government funded tattoo removal. The money going directly to companies is going to major bonuses for executives. The partisan game is the least of my worries at this point. There is some fucked up shit going on.

Making a figurehead out of Obama denies the fact that things wouldn't be any different if McCain had been elected. Bernanke would still be in the position that he is in. The members of congress would still be doing what they are all doing. You place partisan blame in almost the same breath as dismissing the parties as a game. What gives?

You are seeing things. I am not at all blaming all of the problems on Obama. I am saying he got elected because of his personality and not because he has realistic ideas on cleaning up the nightmare we are in. I am also making cracks about the rest of his administration. You know how corrupt it is, don't you? Their political party does not change that or add to it. It is what it is, and it SUCKS.

So tell me... What do you think of the bonuses AIG executives got from the bail out money?

Though this question wasn't directed to me, I hope you won't mind me answering it. The contracts that AIG executives (and Merrill Lynch exec's.) received were given to them UNDER contract. Should their bonus money/rewards (which, remember, is under contract) not be given to them...the executives could sue their respective companies for sums 3x that which they are getting. The money handouts to corporate wall street fat cats crosses moral and ethical lines, not legal ones.

But since the question is regarding AIG, I think it's relevant to note that the company asked for the executives to give back at least half of the money. AIG HAD to pay them, but make no mistake about it...the company is well aware about how this looks considering the current state of our economy. That's why they asked for them to fork back over at least half of their bonus checks to tax payers. If anyone wants to point the fingers at anyone, point it at those who refuse the penniless pennies and spend heavily on unnecessary "junk". You'll find we're all to blame on some level.

You ever play dungeons and dragons? I really didn't care for it, but one thing I took away from the whole thing was the concept of 'lawful evil'. I feel like there is a power struggle between the ignorant laity who just want things to work the way they should for everyone, and the elite who know how to work the system exactly in their favor. Somewhere in between is most of the government who has absolutely no idea what is going on.

In my opinion, the bailout itself was a breach of contract with the taxpayers, and so there should be no problem breaking the bonus contracts that AIG has made. Hiding behind legal red tape only when it favors them is the hallmark of the power elite of this country and is exactly the kind of shit that turned the economy on its ass in the first place.

Really though, I don't blame the money grubbing assholes trying to get their bonuses, I blame the assholes who gave out the money in the first place without thinking about the consequences. No good will come from these bailouts at all.

Yeah, that's because they have been embarrassed beyond belief. The bailouts (which I didn't and still don't support) were supposed to help the national economy, not the buying of new yachts and tennis courts for millionaires.

I totally agree. I am not mad at the rich people who got the bonuses. I am mad at the government for giving them bonuses.
