Thread: Why do you live?

**PLEASE REALIZE THIS IS NOT A SUICIDE THREAD; I HAVE NO INTENTIONS WHATSOEVER OF COMMITTING SUICIDE OR INFILICTING ANY PAIN UPON MYSELF**

Im curious as to what exactly all you people, who I would consider to be of reasonable intelligence; live for?
Why is it you decide to get up out of bed everyday and go to work or school or whatever it is you do on a daily basis?
If your answer is anything along the lines of "So I can have a future" What is it about the future that intrigues you? I think basically what im asking is sort of; What exactly is their to live for?

I realize we are at a time in the history of mankind that is about to change dramatically and that technological advances are coming to a point that we have no comprehension of but how does that affect you and whatever it is that you are?

Mmm, I guess I live for people; I get out of bed because I look forward to seeing the people that make me happy, and/or the people who depend on me for something.

I also live for the simple (and sometimes stupid) pleasures, the little things that I'd miss if I didn't live anymore. Like listening to my favorite song or eating something sweet, hehe.

I don't know what you mean about technology... That doesn't cross my mind as something related to why I live.

Nothing, I'll die anyway.

Yes they will, but I don't see how that's relevant.

I live because my life started, and I have no reason to end it willingly. Whatever comes attached to it is irrelevant, but pleasant nonetheless.

At this point in time I am only alive for the sake of my children and husband.

When I am in a better place emotionally, I live for the joys of life: the beauty of nature, deepening understanding of God, the Ministry (door-to-door Bible work, looking for people interested in a Bible study), food , exploration and to experience more of this epic story which is humanity.

Curiosity.

And because it can be really fucking fun.

I live because I am God and if I were to kill myself it would wipe out existence.

I live for the same reason I read good books. I just want to see what happens next. The cool part is sometimes I can influence what does happen.

What reason is there not to live, I would wonder.

Somehow I got lucky enough to exist, so who am I to be ungrateful?

Besides, the possiblities are seemingly endless. I think that's reason enough to continue the exploration...

I disagree. I will never forgive my parents for creating me.

I ask this question of myself quite a bit, but the answer is inevitable. I live because I guess there is a shred of hope somewhere that life may turn out, though I know it is total bullshit.

I suppose when I get to be about 50 I will sign off; maybe earlier.

I live because I (generally) enjoy life, regardless of how meaningless it may be overall.

I live because I'd rather do that than die

and you never know when you're going to meet a pretty girl

I haven't spent all my money yet

I live to make a difference in peoples' lives. I want to finish school, get my degree, and help other people. How I will do that is still unknown though.

I really don't have the energy to type a serious response to this right now, but I might later. In short, I believe that my purpose in life is to be HAPPY

This is a very good question that most people don't ask themselves. But I think we simply have an ingrained desire to live from natural selection and thus we do.

I think I live simply because I'm living. I'm here, might as well finish what was started.

I live because God allows me too.
My family & friends need me.
Just like other people have said, i enjoy life.
