yep survival of the fittest my dear troll. We humans are now greater than any other species in the enviroment, so screw them. They get the scraps of land we dont want. If they die, tough. The world ain't fair and its never going to be.

I could give a phrack about purchasing power parity. I'm concered with the sustainability of the human race as a whole. Such divisive thoughts keep wars, intolerance, and ignorance perpetuated into the indefinite future. Survival of the fittest doesn't work any more. It is survival of the Intelligent. Our basal "fight or flight" instincts is what has been driving us toward our own self-destruction for this latest period in human history. If we want to survive it, and evolve beyond it, a new perspective is necessary. What you're touting doesn't help it. Continued nationalist rhetoric. Continued modernist rhetoric, as if we are somehow above nature.

We are a global society. What hurts one of us, hurts all of is, either directly or indirectly.

I dunno...

Canadians seem like a pretty contibutive, self-sustained and peaceful lot.

But they like keeping good foriegn affairs so their evil, right? Yea, let's forget for a moment that the president of the united states declared war BECAUSE GOD SAID SO.

I think he is saying the way the canadian economy is, is not viable. In the sense that canada relies on exploiting its vast mineral, tree and fishing resources to much instead of being more diversified???.... Correct me if im wrong Troubador, im just trying to interpret your post.

And I have to agree with traveling troubador you canadians are taking what he's saying way to personally. I mean come on....I hate to say it but you guys (canadians) are basically self hating americans...There i said it.

Yes Dragon. I took that, and then took it to a larger scale. Nationalist arrogance and exploitation of nature are not specific to certain countries. Things I must argue with because they disgust me. The above that I have repeated again, and again, and again, and again, are nothing to be proud of.

What we should be exploiting is our capacity for innovation and problem solving. That is the reason that we have survived so long and have the luxuries we do today. Mineral wealth won't help it, it will only serve to stave off further collapses temporarily.

You need basic materials to build an infrastructure... I don't know what your problem with exploiting primary ressources is.

The population grows and grows, needing more and more infrastructure, and more and more resources to build it. This in turn causes the population to grow even more. It's self-defeating thing. Nothing is infinite that can be exploited quickly. It is all based on the animalistic side of human nature: greed, gluttony, security, etc.

Instead of people being a collection of individuals, we are now a cancerous growth on the planet. Of course I'm a hypocrite saying this, because I participate in it. Recognizing that you have a problem is part of the way towards creating a solution.

But I digress (and god damn I digress a lot, my apologies), the traditional economic/modernist model that most people take as common sense because of the implication of their own personal benefit is a disastrous thing in the "big picture". I reemphasize the idea that we are not talking about Canadian/American/Indian/Chinese/Russian, but Humanity.

Hmm... depression. Hopefully not for another decade or so. That way I can save up money, but tons of real estate when it hits, and get filthy rich when we climb out of it.

Buying euros now, while the dollar is weak against it, has a high chance of making you lose money instead, if the dollar should rise.
Mindfulness is the aware, balanced acceptance of the present experience.
It isn't more complicated that that.
It is opening to or recieving the present moment, pleasant or unpleasant, just as it is,
without either clinging to it or rejecting it.

All you are doing is pointing out that their specific economic system is flawed.

Here's a clue-- All of them are.

People have already tried to come up with an economic system that doesn't lapse itself over-- See communism.

The media has opposite intentions. They WANT people to panic. The more people panic, the more people watch, the higher their ratings go. Do you think people are going to keep their eyes glued to the television if everything is fine? The media corporations don't give a fuck.

If anything, the media is overplaying the problem. Don't get me wrong, I know our economy sucks right now, but you can't trust the media.

Go hop over to Solskye's topic with the five youtube videos from the indian elders. That's what I'm talking about.

Not that a specific economic system is flawed, economy itself is flawed due to it's nature.

And so the argument winds down and you make me out as dim-witted. Thanks.

The only system that is perfect is the one that brought us into existence, which would be nature. Apparently it has become an ingrained ideal to try and conquer nature, bending it to humanity's will. Why? For creature comforts. The only point I was trying to make is that this is nothing to be proud of and now it has dragged on and on...

I am vexed, and nae shall I lay my eyes on this topic again, for fear of having killed its spirit.

Id say, if you live in Europe right now. COME TO AMERICAAAAAAAAAAA

Its dirt cheap for you now, go to America and spend, go back to Europe and sell. You'll be a millionaire.

A German car (bmw, benz) in America is now 50% less than the price in Germany. Buy 2 or 3 from America and ship it to Europe and sell. Get 50% over what you paid instantly.

Oh and in 10 years, id want to live in the middle east, where gas is cheaper than water. I lived in Saudi Arabia for a couple months, a gallon of gas is less than a one liter water bottle.

America is going into recession and its going to crumble down on its self soon enough. The more wars and shit bush wages, the faster we fuck up.

Go China.

By the way, at my last pep rally at school, they gave out flags for the national anthem. USA FLAGS. there was a sticker on the side that said made in china. Thats sad.

EDIT:

I live in Texas, and i remember when hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana. Holy shit? If a stupid wind hit ONE city, it wrecked havoc across other states.
I went to fill up gas at night, and i went to maybe 15 gas stations, all CLOSED> these are 24/7 stations.
I was like WTF? and then i found ONE open, with a line of maybe 40 cars?

If some wind and water did this, imagine what if oil was OUT, and the country was plumetting.
