      Vadim Chernobrov's "Time Machine"

I was reading an interesting article in the Epoch Times today than mentioned a russian scientist, Vadim Chernobrov, who was experimenting with a sort of time machine. While not a classic time machine, it merely slowed down the passage of time.

While most of the internet articles claim he was only able to achieve a reduction of 3% in the passage of time, the Epoch Times article say he's recently been able achieve a reduction of 10%.

Here's a picture of the large version they made. All the literature says it's a sphere shape, but to me it's clearly Icosahedral. (The hidden shape in my avatar).

The idea it's self isn't so far fetched. All one would need to do to accomplish this it to travel very fast. But this suggests a sort of traveling without moving.

      Notes from the Pravda article
Today the group of enthusiasts can slow down or speed up the course of time using special impact of the magnetic field. The biggest slowing down of time made up 1.5 seconds within an hour of the equipment's operation in labs. In August 2001, a new model of the time machine meant for a human was set in a remote forest in Russia's Volgograd Region. When the machine even operated on car batteries and had low capacity, it still managed to change the time by three per cent; the change was registered with symmetrical crystal oscillators.
At first, the researchers spent five, ten and twenty minutes in the operating machine; the longest stay lasted for half an hour. Vadim Chernobrov said that the people felt as if they moved to a different world; they felt life here and "there" at the same time as if some space was unfolding. "I cannot define the unusual feelings that we experienced at such moments."
A tragedy occurred on August 30, 1989: an extremely strong explosion sounded at the Institute's branch office on the Anjou islands. The explosion destroyed not only the experimental module of 780 tons but also the archipelago itself that covered the area of 2 square kilometers. According to one of the versions of the tragedy, the module with three experimenters collided with a large object, probably an asteroid, in the parallel world or heading toward the parallel world. Having lost its propulsion system, the module probably remained in the parallel world. The last record made in the framework of the experiment and kept at the Institute archives says: "We are dying but keep on conducting the experiment. It is very dark here; we see all objects become double, our hands and legs are transparent, we can see veins and bones through the skin. The oxygen supply will be enough for 43 hours, the life support system is seriously damaged. Our best regards to the families and friends!" Then the transmission suddenly stopped.

All the online sources I've come across so far just seem to be quoting the same article. Just wondering if anyone had a better understanding of the principles involved in this particular application. I would guess this somehow involves what the russians have called Torsion or Scalar energy.

And of course the bizzare side effects mentioned by the human participants certainly keeps things interesting. It hints at a lot of stuff but doesn't provide any real information. Any thoughts?

Wow that seems like somthing out of a sci-fi storm, im curious to someone watching would they just sit there, if they are indeed slowing down would they seem to move diffrent to someone looking in? Too many conundrums

Wait, and you actually believe this?

Just look at the thing, it's probably made of papier mache. Honestly...

There's no scientific reason to think that magnets would influence the passage of time. The only way you can do that is travel very fast relative to something, and that speeds time up for the passenger, not slows it down.

And really. 'The module collided with an asteroid, probably in a parallel world'... you actually think this is true?

Where's the hidden icosahedron in your avatar by the way? Do you have to join up the corners of the rectangles?

I agree, it looks so cheesy, I could make a better time machine in my basement...

It seems that Pravda paper is little more than a tabloid, but I came across the story in the Epoch Times, which is the only paper I have any respect for.

All true, but if you have a elecromagnetic field rotating around you, then it's moving relative to you. And if you're sitting in the middle of it, you could think of it as not you moving, but the outside world around you moving, in which case the outside would experience the speeding up of time, and you would experience a slowing down.

      Bingo!

And what would you build it out of, Poutine?

Don't you think that if any of this were feesible, everyone would have heard about it by now?

I think people have an uncanny ability of dismissing anything that doesn't conform to their preconceived world view. Something like Douglas Adam's SEP field.
