      How does entropy work?

I gather that the Universe is loosing energy (presumably as it radiates into space) and that "thinks tend towards Chaos.

However, where did all that energy come from?

      (not a religion topic)

http://www.sidis.net/ANIMContents.htm if you really want to know read the free online book because it really to complicated well essentially. Matter tends toward either chaos or order this determined the arrow of time because your perception always go with chaos so entropy is just the arrow of time. Also the universe is not loosing energy i.e. first law of thermodynamics you cant create nor destroy energy.

The singularity of the big bang is where all the energy came from. It is theorized that the universe will expand so much that it will have little of that energy from the singularity remaining, in essence close to no energy. In other words the universe will be like a big chunk of butter spread out over a piece of toast that is so big it leaves almost no visible signs of butter left on the toast.

Now what happens at that point is anyones guess. Some scientists think giant tears will develop in the universe (evidence supported by black holes, etc), and at that point, everything we know will be cast back into the singularity, repeating eternally. That theory is most likely to me because it presents a solution, and funny predicament for many questions... there was no beginning and is no end...only now. The universe is pretty much, an endless loop. Time is variable to explain our current direction in the endless loop but is pretty meaningless when you face the idea of infinity.

The oscillatory universe is the hypothesis, attributable to Richard Tolman from 1934, that the universe undergoes an infinite series of oscillations, each beginning with a big bang and ending with a big crunch. After the big bang, the universe expands for a while before the gravitational attraction of matter causes it to collapse back in and undergo a bounce.

Take a look at my Past, Present, Future... The Eternal 'now' thread to hear my theory about how this big bang and big crunch prove that alternate realities are not only possible but equally as real as this reality. It involves this very idea of the endless loop.
