Is There Enough Readiness For Wormholes?

1) Do you think the world, is ready enough to meet the consequences of building a wormhole, during the next few years?

2) What is your assessment of finding the proper planets for living and/or probable intelligent ETs, by this technology, for the current decade?

Hello mansouryar.
Perhaps I am pessimistic in the view of worm wholes. Even with the remarkable strides we have made in quantum physics, we can really only guesstimate on most of those theories.
I mean what do we really know about exotic matter?
I do not think any time soon there will be funding enough to expand this beyond a dream.
Much like astral projection, a pipe dream for many but valid enough to have governmental experiments.
My guess is there is something there to be revealed but not the means to reveal it. IMO.

Thanks for your reply. As I requested, please assume wormholes are possible to exist, and artificially be built. I think there is a very very profound question herein and that is: What are the boundaries of advancement for the humanity? Are we allowed to push the science to wherever we want? Please look to two of the replies to my questions and I ask you to tell your opinions in the spirit of them, I mean social aspects of this topic:

Not only no, but hell no. We don't even know really what a wormhole is, how to ensure that we can make one, or if we did, how to open up the other side of one. If the US, or anyone for that matter, was to make one, it should probably be done in space. Our space program (manned or otherwise) is in shambles and the next ten years won't see much change.

What is your assessment of finding the proper planets for living and/or probable intelligent ETs, by this technology, for the current decade?

If remote sensing can be accomplished through wormholes, it would be quite useful to use one as an observation tool, but we'd have to be careful about where the other end of the wormhole is. You don't want a hole opening up in town center of a hostile ET planet. I don't see any possibility of anything happening other than more papers and theories over the next decade.
Sorry to be so pessimistic, but we all know what makes the world, space technology and good physics research really happen. Unless some rich venture capitalists come forward with a real interest in this stuff, it'll remain the fantasy of many folks, me included.

Even if you are wrong, I wish you Good Speed with finishing your project. It would be the greatest discovery and invention of this millennium.

Just don't forget that most likely you will not earn good credit when you publish the working device. Humans are still too rooted in their primitive desires to increase wealth and material possessions. Like cars and such stuff. Plus that if you are able to create enough energy to sustain a stable traversable wormhole, there's practically not boundary to apply this technology to common day life. Energy generation will not be a problem any more. Many many people will suffer from losing their jobs - I doubt all of them will be able to adapt.

Centuries of war and hate could follow; War of a strength and brutality, mankind has never been faced with before. If a Thermonuclear Bomb can appear right beside you, sent through a wormhole. And I assume the energy generator for a wormhole could be misused as a weapon. Such incredible amounts of energy could blow up half the galaxy&#33; I can imagine the headline of an Alien Newspaper a few years after publishing the device << Unknown species caused an explosion blowing up 2/3 of their galaxy and tearing a gigantic hole into spacetime. Do we have to leave this universe ? >>

However - Be careful =) If it works, it&#39;s great. If not, likewise. I&#39;d suggest you to think twice about publishing the working device. Maybe a wiser decision would be to hide it and let mankind develop for two or more centuries.

Chanches to getting to an alien planet with intelligent aliens, for me, is extremly low. I think all we could find is bacteria and spores... If they were intelligent then I dobupt that we would be fighting, we would both know that humans would win :P .
And I think that we aren&#39;t ready for anything like a wormhole, because we are still stupid apes with nothing else but greed on our minds. Untill we mentaly evolve and fix the major problems in the world (I&#39;m not talking about terrorists), then we are stuck on this corrupted Earth. So yeah that&#39;s what I think... :goodjob2:
I really have no idea how one would make a wormhole (but I heard that we could make micro black holes with the particle accelerator by accident). But it is true that if all the money we use for wars and making rich people happier/richer, would be used for scientific improvement and helping human kind to evolve, then we would be much further with out sci. developement.

I think there is a subtle correspondence between this topic and human cloning researches. Of course it seems the former has nothing to do with the theist-atheist, sociological debates, but obviously it involves much ethical discussions…
I ask you Bonsay (, & others): Don’t you guess the wormholes could make this “corrupted Earth” into a better place? Or at least would help us to go to better places in the universe?

Maybe we will someday be able to pass through wormhole to other places in the grand universe&#33;

Only that will be in 4029 years, and we will come out the other end in shreds :)

I don&#39;t think that there should be a point where we should stop, I&#39;m allways for new things and discoveries.
Could the wormholes save us? I can&#39;t answer that, because I don&#39;t know what psychological effect would a discovery as big as that have on the world. If it would change the people then yes, but we would probably stay the same.

Thanks. I agree with you that we must improve the world before, however the scale of wormholes isn’t impossible…
BTW, don’t you think in a hypothetical situation which wormhole communicational technology in the real world is comparable to the WWW technology in the virtual world, helping to the poor people of Africa could be much easily than now?
Specially note to my remarks about the logical effect of this technology on the political structure of the world (and the UNO), converting it to a “global republic”…

Humans as a whole are not ready for it.

Stated pretty bluntly, that&#39;s my opinion. That doesn&#39;t mean research should stop etc. if anything, research the hell out of it, and when you succeed, make one somewhere that will survive the ice age. If humans can survive it too, then the one&#39;s who survive probably will be a LITTLE bit more ready for it. (if they stumble upon it)

Human nature contains too much apathy, recklesness, and selfish desire at this point. (Unless this was only introduced to tested individuals)

As per should humans be ABLE to do this... sure as hell, the development of our intelligence came for a reason. If you go by the theory of Gaia (Which I&#39;m sure you&#39;ve heard of.. if not, look it up on wikipedia...) the planet introduces things to the species which live on it, at the right time, for what stages need to happen.

Then again, you&#39;ve been introduced to the wormhole concept (by your own thoughts etc.) with the caution of not wanting to release something far too advanced for human kind. The very fact that this idea has occured to you should indicate that the research should probably be behind closed doors.

In the end, you can only make the decisions available to you, and there&#39;s only a few, so whichever one you take will take the human race on a roller coaster.

This technology could be a hope if we’re supposed to experience another ice age; by colonizing other proper spheres, activating the unknown potentials of the earth for human living, or manipulating the would-be-changed global weathers, toward weakening the possible disasters.

Sadly, plenty of samples confirm this comment, but I guess we’d have a better future. For example, compare the present situation with the past. In old ages many people died from various disasters and the habitants of other (far) regions had no or least awareness of the story, in a suitable time, to help or to prepare themselves for required cures. Now, after the media revolution “humans as a whole” have surely more useful reactions towards the global events. I think if all nations could apply this technology, we’d have more (humane) possibilities for survival ... :wink:

I don’t have a good feeling to this end. Black projects and permanent security justifications could enforce any retarding & misuse on this. I just think that this technology shouldn&#39;t end up being readily available to human&#39;s at this point in history. People like myself I would trust; people with an obvious LOVE of astronomy, science, existence etc.

Unfortunately, as you have already agreed with, most people aren&#39;t like me. So like I said, I think this race as a whole must endure through something like the next Ice Age in order to have a real shock to the general outlook of the average human.
