The acting was really good. Andy Kaufman is a legend for doing a lot of things like that. He put his acting talent toward pulling all kinds of shows that looked real even though they were fake just so he could play pranks on the audience. Memphis wrestling was a riot to watch any way, and the audience's behavior was part of the reason for it. Then Andy Kaufman came into the picture and made it even more of a trip.

I lived in Oxford, Mississippi for a while when I was a kid, and we were so close to Memphis that we picked up Memphis network affiliates. That Memphis wrestling show came on every Saturday morning, and I kept up with it for years. Unfortunately, we moved away a few months before Kaufman got into it, but my mother would read about it in the newspaper and tell me what was happening. I really wish I had been able to watch it at the time.

Jerry Lawler keeps running for mayor of Memphis and not getting elected. That kind of surprises me. If the people in his wrestling audience were the only people voting, I am positive he would be the mayor. They probably think he should be the president.
