Loved the movie, was not part of the usual demographic found watching this kind of movie: i.e. little kids or their mothers. Corny bits, some predictable stuff, but honestly, I was impressed. I almost thought this was a Pixar movie or something.

DreamWorks How To Train Your Dragon Lol nice YYNYM Just watched it, very good story line. I loved that it didn't have any cheap pop culture gimmicks in it. I also enjoyed the constant progression the movie has. I t doesn't get sluggish anywhere, and it doesn't play through too fast. Spoiler for Movie Review by MementoMori: Character construction was the main thing that kept me interested. The main character and his "friend" make the perfect progression throughout the movie. This doesn't feel like a Dreamworks movie actually. The graphics are wonderful, it gives you the perfect combination of "cartoony" on somethings and "realism" in others. They imo chose a very good intermediary for the dragons designs. This is a family movie and so they made some of the dragons "cute" and others what young children would call "scary". The one dragon that stood out for me was indeed the Night Fury. This is because you see so many "lizard-like" and "snake-like" dragons, when the Night fury plays on a different note of characteristics. It's a combination of a newt and a bat. This brought out the best new dragon-like result i've seen in recent years. You'll love it too. The story line is almost 100% able to be predicted, that is up until a well placed "turning point" that is very well executed. Then the story line really pulls you in and you see where the uniqueness and amazing growth all the characters have made throughout the adventure. The ending was superb, as most movies ending are alright or bland. This one really seemed like a mature realistic ending that came unexpectedly but not with out welcome. All in all i would rate this 4.9/5 it loses .1 points because by the end your thinking wow i want more and it'll make you feel like it went by too fast. Watch it again and you wont have that feeling, it's due to how immersed you will become in it. So the .1 isn't really a punishment as much as a recognition of excellence. If Dreamworks keeps making films like this, and Kung Fu Panda, and stop making garbage like Madagascar, the line that divides them and Pixar will grow thinner. I have to agree with you here, even though I haven't seen it yet. I loved Kung Fu Panda though. I'm considering seeing How to Train Your Dragon this Friday... Now I really want to see it. =)

Wasn't able to go see it last weekend, but I did get a hold of a cam copy, just to get a feel for it, before I go dish out the $20 to see it with my kid. I saw the first couple of minutes and it was hilarious. Will be seeing this in the theater soon.

I saw it. It wasn't fantastic, but it was pretty good. The flying scenes were really great. Good movie for kids.
