You're right. She doesn't love him at all. Neither of them love each other. Meyer's herself frequently compares the story to Wuthering Heights and Romeo and Juliet. Apparantly she is really bad at picking up on themes. Romeo and Juliet have about as shallow a relationship as Bella and Edward, just as Heathecliffe was not a positive person to have a romance with either, (and not in a 'aww, star crossed lovers!' sort of way but in a 'No, stop it, you are just making yourself miserable pursuing this guy and it hurts to read' sort of way.). What the couple in question do have is this clingy, sickening, dependancy. And although most 14 year olds mistake dependancy for love, they are totally different. But no one bothered to tell Stephanie that when she wrote the books. I have read the first two and a half books just to see what it was all about.

The style was neither good nor particularly bad. It was just meh. The characters were kind of fun but fairly shallow. It's romance was a poorly written plotline filled with emotional abuse and misintrepretation of undead pheremones. Agreed that the message is bad.Anyway, I don't go around bashing Twilight. I think it is silly to make a huge deal over a book just because it is mediocre. You don't see people staging ihatepiersanthony sites.

This book is about true love even less than Titanic.

Bella would love Edward if he looked like Andrew Lloyd Webber. His attractiveness is totally irrelevant. It is really just a total coincidence he looks like a Greek God, it's really not relevant to the books or films.

She would have a pathetic dependancy if he was ugly, maybe, but she still wouldn't love him.

Twilight is like a copy of a copy from what i've read? Just that it's with teenagers i'd guess.

Why else would she trade her human life for a dead, souless vampire, willingly? She argues with him through the entire series about wanting to become a vampire so that she can spend eternity with him; her true love.
She also has a conversation with Jacob Black, where Jacob (like you ) assumes it is because of his good looks, and she tells him that that is, of course, not the reason...
Like most other romance books, it's a case of true love. Not looks.
Was talking about that, doesn't this nearly always happen inside a vampire movie?
