      Toy Story 3

Okay, usually people don't make threads about movies.

But Toy Story 3 is different.

In 1995, Cinematic history was changed as the first entirely computer animated film ever made was released to theaters. Since then, every live action film made has been entirely computer animated.

Since then, 3D animation has taken the place of 2D animation, and a new animation era began. But, no matter how good it got, Toy Story has always been remembered as the first. Because, not only was it the first, it was possibly the best. The (at the time) super-realistic renditions of childhood toys had enchanted adults, and the charming world from the perspective of a toy thrilled all movie goers.

Then, Toy Story 2 was made. Some have called it the best sequel in movie history.

And now, fifteen years later, we move on to the third and final installment to a historical trilogy.

      Trailer

Some have said that this might be the best trilogy ever made. IMO, this, in itself, is a rather far fetched statement even if Pixar hits the mark.

But after seeing the new trailer, I'm starting to doubt the latter case. Pixar did an incredible job reviving Toy Story in the second film, but can they do it this time?

It seems there are two possible outcomes:

1.Pixar makes an incredible film, and the Toy Story trilogy goes down in history.

2.Pixar botches it, and destroys their credibility for the next ten years.

I am beginning to fear the latter. Nothing Disney does would surprise me now.

Ooo I didn't know there was a Toy Story 3. I look forward to it. I doubt it could be as good as either of the first two, but no matter, it will at least be decent.

No matter what, it will not be a cock up. They could make it a really really shit film, but everyone would still love it. Just for the simple fact that it is legendary.

But it's not legendary in the same way as things like Star Wars. Films like that can be ruined, (i.e. that shitty new Star Wars shit)
But Toy Story is different... I don't know how to explain it.

I can't wait though. I friggin' love Toy Story.

Also, 3000th post. This is a time to celebrate

      You might have a point.

Nonetheless, the trailer reeks of commercialized disneyification, and I am more than a bit suspicious.

Possibly not. But, as far as sequels go, it did a pretty fine job.

Yeah!! That would be so cool! Then again...it would also kinda spoil the fun.

I think the whole coolness of Toy Story is that we're seeing something that Andy can't see. We get see a world that people don't know exist. When unimportant side characters see the toys alive, it's funny. To have Andy see them alive wouldn't be as fun.

I loved the first one. I didn't even see the second one.

But the third one is going to be in 3-D. That's all I need to know, I'm there.

I'll probably watch the first two before going.

wtf does this mean? Disney does not have creative influence over Pixar. Disney used to be far far worse when it was run by Eisner (who almost ran the company into the ground) and Pixar still managed to weather the storm and make consistently brilliant movies.

Pixar knows how important this movie is and they have extremely good quality control. No other film studio has produced such a run of critically acclaimed films.

Ok, I'll put them at the top of my Netflix list. I'll watch them next week if they are available. Could be a lot of people renting them right now.

There are no bad Pixar films. (Personally, I'm shocked A Bug's Life hasn't been mentioned yet.) If you want to go with weakest, I'd say that would be Cars.

I'm also uber stoked about TS3. Looking back at the trailer, I see some of the original stoyline from the Circle 7 saga infused into this plot. This movie is sure to please.

There should not be an Up 2. Monsters Inc. 2 I can see, Cars 2 I see, and (maybe someday) Incredibles 2 I can see. But Up 2 should never happen. Up, Finding Nemo, and Wall-E are the only Pixar films that I felt certain closure. If they make sequels of them, fine, but I think they shouldn't.

I might go see it, if it gets good reviews.

I mean, many sequels or even animated movies nowadays come loaded with pop culture references and the like. It drives me crazy.

100% on Rotten Tomatoes from nine critics.

I would go see it Friday, but the friend I invited has College orientation, so we'll have to go Saturday. Bearing that in mind, PLEASE don't fill this thread with spoilers. Either that or just remind me not to look here Friday. XD

No, no spoilers, although I hear the end is really emotional.

It would be interesting to know how the creators had intended to end the story, but it was brilliant to have chosen with what was.

Same here. I'm excited, partly because of the reviews it's gotten and partly because I've waited a long time for a sequel.
