I see mostly positive reviews for this album, but really...
There's just nothing there which compares.
Then again maybe it's a grower. I felt the same about Radiohead's later albums but now I love them.

I've listened to some of the album and didn't like any of the songs really, im kind of dissapointed....I love demon days though.
Video for Stylo makes an unnotable, average track superb.
Plus Gaiman's Sandman shows up. In his ceremonial helm and dream shroud. I'm very pleased by this happening plus fat cop plus America desert road plus classy cars plus car chase plus Willis.
Visually the allusion is everywhere.
Sorry, I didn't mean him literally there.
That's not really how my philosophy of music goes.Quote:

Any Del?
Edit; just looked it up, no:( his tracks are some of my favorites on the other albums. Although I am looking forward to hearing the Mos Def tracks.
Try philosophy of multi-media. The music alone is a certain quality, the video is a certain quality, but together they are a different quality.
You aren't judging them separately when you judge a music video. A track might complement the video and add things that alone it didn't have.
I'll admit, however, that relistenings to Stylo alone imply that it's growing on me.
The only thing I didn't like about the video is the obvious lack of Russel. Of course, I guess that's to be expected seeing as he's the drummer, and Stylo is mostly a techno track. Willis showing up was hilarious, as well as the events after.
The video makes me see Stylo in a whole new light. When I first heard it, I automatically thought of driving down the road through a city at night. After watching the vid, I see now that this song is better suited for daytime listening. I'll probably get it from iTunes this afternoon.
I have to take issue with this assessment now, seeing as I was heading home on the train when we had our little back-and-forth, got the itch to hear Stylo, and proceeded to listen to it no fewer than six times :D
That is some fine travellin' music.
Anyone know who is the vocalist belting out the meaty, gravelly parts, like someone backing over a ribeye in the driveway?
Got a download today. A listen through suggests it's not nearly as impressive as Demon Days; though there's nothing particularly bad it's all a bit samey. It feels like he uses the same drum machine hihat in most tracks.
But truthfully I don't think I know a better modern pop album than Demon Days. Gorillaz is what is right with modern pop music, and Stylo is quite an addictive song. I'm going to have to investigate Bobby Womack.
The actual release is tomorrow (March 8th), so go buy the CD! :P

Different dates for different countries~
It would be pointlessly awesome if they did a concert there in support of cleaning it up.
I think molding it into a hip hop playland would set a good example of recycling.
