I'm thinking Locke is more a Lovecraftian creature from outside of time and/or between universes. You could call that an alien, but not so much the Visitors type.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

Could explain how Jacob can be in many locations in a similar time frame and the aging bit. So far I'm guessing that the smoke monster, Jacob and Richard are all the same... things. Maybe even all the rest of the Others?

Notice that when the show switches from one world to another instead of using the typical sound that appeared when flashbacks/forwards started we hear the same sound from the time flashes. I'm guessing that similarly to those we have seen with consciousness unstuck in time, Juliet was alternating between worlds before dying.

So who are these guys that the main cast is talking with lately? Were they always there or did they show up after the big event from the last season. Last time I watched the show I saw the guy who looks a little bit auzy, the fat character, the chinese guy, the terrorist, don't remember the guy
      Spoiler for the guy:
. But anyway, who are these people, and what did the chinese guy mean when he said
      Spoiler for time span:

I'm not into the show enough to care to purchase five whole seasons and watch them, plus I'm far too busy to do that right now.

Besides I have a feeling the ending to this show is going to be as lame as "I used to date Fabio."

With all that said I still would like to know what is going on.

I've been watching them on this site, you could use it to catch up. There's absolutely no way anybody could explain to you at this stage.

So Jacob and that other dude (who now looks like Locke), they're supposed to be guarding the island? There's definitely some good/evil imagery going on between them. When we first saw them on the beach, one was wearing black, the other white. Then in the cave in the cliff, there was the set of scales with a black rock and a white one. Then smoke-monster dude takes the white one off- presumably referring to Jacob's death. Any ideas what that's all about?

Locke/Man in Black has actually admitted to being a human originally.

I'm more inclined to think they're enriched human beings, rather than totally otherworldly creatures.

I am so glad I decided to watch this show. (I started watching it at the beginning of Jan this year and I got caught up before the current and last season started. Very pathetic, I know). It's very exciting. I thought so since the beginning.

I almost stopped watching, however when my favourite character was killed off at the end of season 3. R.I.P. Charlie.

Well, I'm still invested in the show and am interested in how it will end.

The ending of tonight's episode almost came out of the blue and COMPLETELY soared above my expectations. And how freaking creepy was the "Catch A Falling Star" song overlaying the death and destruction at the temple?! That whole ending was almost movie-like, and certainly season 1-like. It makes me... dare I say... hopeful... that the end of all this will be as good as I expected it to be all these years. I don't know, I just have a feeling.

I really hope that the real John Locke gets the REAL closure he's always deserved in the end. I don't think we've seen the last of him.

I too am sad about John Locke. He's one of my favourite characters, along with Desmond and Daniel probably. He was also a really major character so it's a bit weird not even knowing in what capacity he exists any more... it was sad when they buried him, but I don't want the real Locke to be finished with yet. Funny thing is we still have no idea why Ben murdered him (after he mentioned Eloise).

Just watched the most recent episode. It was pretty good, although not entirely unpredicted. Locke said he was going to go kill them all and that's pretty much what he did.

Most of this is panning out as I'd thought, really. It was always clear that the Man in Black was aligned with the Smoke Monster, and also Christian, who had affected Claire in some way. I think the whole issue with Christian is the next thing that needs to be sorted out. Ilana said that the Man in Black couldn't change form 'any more' so Christian could well have been his past incantation given that he was always enacting 'the plan', although Christian's body disappeared so it's different somehow. And it's also gone from the alternate timeline, which is interesting... and Jack has scars. Oh, and how great was having Keamy back in that episode? That was awesome.

Other stuff I'm psyched about finding out about are the child Jacob that scares Locke so much, finding out about Richard (as a guess he's from the black rock), and seeing how they manage to sort the timelines out. They're actually wrapping most of the questions up pretty nicely if you look at them.

Wow.. I don't know if they could've possibly made a more emotional and profound end. The ending of that show just changed my life..

I don't know they really only answered that which was relevant, the rest I think they leave up to your imagination which I'm down with.

I liked that ending. They didn't quite explain the ins and outs of the island but it wasn't really important in the end.

I don't know, I'm trying to let it settle in, but now I feel really shafted as a Locke fan and as an atheist (since they went for broke and made a religious ending in no uncertain terms). But especially as a Locke fan. Okay, he's alright in the end, he's happy and he gets to be with his girl Helen, but for six years of leading me on to think that Locke in particular was "special" and meant for a very specific and epic destiny..... well, I guess it was no more or less noble than Jack's. They both died to save the island and basically the whole world.
