Thread: Thrash Metal

What is it with good metal bands going soft? Same thing happened to Avenged Sevenfold on their last album.

well kittie's members are kinda hot, but i don't care for the music.

(and i still stand by my belief that instrumental metal can be just about the best thing ever.)

Metallica, Megadeth, Nevermore, there is a lot of thrash metal bands I listen to.
Even though I never managed to enjoy much Slayer or Pantera. Dunno why.

I like Arya from Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, Testament, Death Angel, Rammstein and so on and on amongst many other great rough, "dirty" vocals - but when it comes to animal-esque growling like Obituary and the way that guy in Opeth growls (I can't mention so many others by name, because as I said its downright offputting to me.)

Oh, you mean like the ones who sound like screeching pterodactyls (Lamb of God, etc.). That's called "vocal fry". Those vocalists you just mentioned are what I think of when you say "growling vocals", so...

Actually, I just auditioned a vocalist for our band the other day, and he was a vocal fry singer. Didn't much care for it, although there are a couple of songs our guitarist composed that would sound great with it.
