I saw Knowing yesterday evening, and wanted to discuss it here
SPOILER ALERT
In my opinion, the movie left me... Flabbergasted. The story was great. Freaky typical horror girl writes a whole page full of codes, which apparantly, are dates, the location, and death count for disasters that happened, and are yet to happen. So has to write them down so bad, that she'd even carve them on the wall with her nails.
So, cool concept!
The piece of paper with the codes goes in a time capsule, and 50 years later, Nicholas Cage (James Koestler) gets the paper in his hands, and finds what it's really all about. A series of events happen, and the movie gets a scientific/horroresque twist.
The ending though... Was... SO disappointing. The last code on the piece of paper prophesizes about the end of the world. So. Everyone dies. And there's 2 chosen children, (of which one, of course, happened to be James' son) who are taken away by ALIENS.
Yes. Aliens. Out of nowhere.
And they are taken away to some other planet, safe from the cataclysmis event about to happen on earth, where they are to be metaphores for Adam and Eve.
The last shot of the movie is our new 'Adam' and 'Eve' running towards a huge tree...
I was flabbergasted. The story was pretty amazing! The code deciphering and all. In my personal opinion, the movie would've been better off with some sort of anti-code, where Nicholas Cage gets to save the world or something. But ALIENS? ADAM AND EVE?
What's DV's opinion about this movie?
