So, I'm pretty anxious for this one, since NoES is my favorite horror franchise ever. By the looks of it, it's got potential. I'm on the fence about it being directed by Bay. I've decided to give him the benefit of doubt, because I'm not too sure about how he is on horror films.
I really hope it's good, though. I want them to just go completely overboard on trippy, surrealistic dream images and make the nightmare feeling as real as possible. Freddy is a reoccurring character, in my dreams, and I'm interested to see where they take him, with this new version. He's apparently not his perfect blend of zany humor and stern, deliberate wickedness that we're all used to, but I think they will at least deliver on the latter.
Still not sure, yet, though. It could either be really good, or really bad. I'm hoping for the best.
Ah you beat me to the punch lol. I was thinking about making a thread on this after I saw the trailer yesterday right before I watched The Wolfman.
I think this movie will be really good. Both trailers gave me goosebumps. I especially like the fact that the guy who plays as Rorschach in the Watchmen, I think his name is Jackie Haley, will be playing as Freddy.
Writers don't have any new ideas so they're remaking the classics.
Yeah tell me about it. I've heard somewhere that they are even thinking about making another Mrs. Doubtfire. Although it still might be good if Robin Williams is in it but c'mon, have they really remade so many movies that they have to revert to Mrs. Doubtfire?
Edit: Actually I think Robin Williams turned that down and they might not go through with it.

Umm, this is going to suck BIG TIME. I think you all know this too, but you don't want to admit it to yourselves
Just look at the Halloween and Friday the 13th remakes. Michael Bay is a horrible director, and is the absolute wrong choice for this movie. Jackie Earl Haley is also not the best choice for the role of Freddy, and it seems pretty uninspired. By the way, I really don't like the way the new Freddy looks either, his face is all charred instead off bloody looking.
There's a lot more issues I have with this movie, but I don't really want to get into them right now. And just so you know, I'm a huge fan of the original.

Of course he's charred he wad burned not Beaton to death.
I just watched this with my 13 year old daughter. My 14 year old daughter spooks too easily, so she sat this one out lol.
It was a pretty good remake. The dream graphics were really nice.
I kept thinking to myself "You KNOW you're dreaming! Summon a weapon or teleport!" I've been with the site way too long I guess lol
I feel like a major idiot though. I watched all these movies when they first came out, but I never realized until tonight that they're ghost stories
Watched it Saturday night and really enjoyed it. It had a couple of weak points, but all in all, I thought it was a good remake - easily the best "modern remake" I've seen.
A lot of people say that it relied heavily on "jump scares", which it did, but I thought they were appropriate seeing as how many scares in nightmares tend to be jump scares. Lol. I thought Jackie Earl Haley played a great rendition of Krueger, though.
I saw it last night. it sucked balls. it was way too "hollywood"
Spoiler for for anyone who gives a damn:
...and dear god was the dialogue awful. I saw actors reciting a script, not people acting and speaking normally as they would. it DID rely far too heavily on jump scares, which is lame. virtually no psychological horror, in fact the scariest thing in the whole movie to me was that one kid getting arrested for murder when he was innocent, and there being no way out of that situation.
also, Freddy's voice sucked. it reminded me of Jim Carrey's Grinch, and Christian Bale's awful batman voice. I didn't like his new face either, it wasn't scary looking at all. actually, if I saw that Freddy in a dream I'd probably start baby talking and try to pinch his cheeks...so cute with his little beady eyes! ^o^
and probably the worst thing about the movie is that they explain EVERYTHING. I hate that. I mean, the original movies came out before I was born, and I only watched a couple a few years ago, but I'm *pretty* sure they are vague and leave more to the imagination. I hate that in this new one they flat out tell the whole story, I hate that in movies in general, takes all the mystery/intrigue out of it (therefore all the fun). I ALWAYS THOUGHT FREDDY WAS INNOCENT.
also, fuck CG. I know it's the new "thing," but I love good old stop motion and puppets. MOST of the time CG looks horribly fake, it ruins movies for me (unless it's an entirely CG movie). I know stop motion and puppets look fake too, BUT, I actually think they look more real (if done well), I guess because it's actual material things being used.
I was very disappointed at the lack of imagination in this movie. 2/5.
