I was quite surprised by this movie. I went in not knowing anything about it, save for the fact that it was animated (my friend had really wanted to see it so there we were). Anyway, after the first few minutes of the movie (up to 5 or 10 or so) I wanted to turn towards my friend and pop him one right in the eye (he had just previously picked the movie Birth because Nicole Kidman was in it [see review in subsequent post] so he wasn't rating to high in my book at the time) when suddenly the movie started getting better! From then on it seemed to get better and better, and was actually rather clever and quite a bit of fun to watch. There was also an emotional element at times intertwined with the plot, thus instilling more of a vested interest in the outcome instead of causing us to nod off in the theatre. I seem to recall it was rather long as well, but again it's pretty fast paced and not noticeably so. Anyway, I'd recommend this one for any age group because it's written in such a way that it can appeal to anyone. |
