Think about it.. if you stress your PC's CPU, or even your vid card's GPU, the temp is gonna rise, obviously they can underclock chips and optimize them to not throw off as much heat. A nice sized heatsync and fan can dissapate the rest of the heat (who knows though.. it'd be awesome to see a water-cooled PS3 heheh)

Yes, it rises and that's why I have all these fans cooling my computer. Have you listened to a server in 1U-format? They make a lot of noise to be able to cool everything in that small space.

#7 I admit, i have only worked a little with OpenGL and not much with DirectX. I can't answer how they are going to handle the SDK at all. I do hate DirectX however and I say this mostly because of its liscensing and lack of being open-source. Well, tear me apart on that one, but that was mostly oppinion based.. not fact-based statement. (I have to admit though... Sony has become pretty bad with copy-protection and licensing lately. Look at OpenMG Jukebox heh. Microsoft is still worse though)
I think I hit most points there. Any grey areas and I'm sure i'll hear them, especially #7..
Actually Microsoft isn't anywhere near worst when it comes to copy-protection. Are numerous software vendors that uses very tough licensing. Change anything in your computers hardware-configuration and you will need to contact them for a new license. Do this a few times in a short time, not uncommon for people interested to keep up with the latest, and they will start questioning you. And let's not forget technologies such as Laserlok, securom and safedisc that cause more problems for law-abiding user than it does for the people cracking the software.
And just what do you mean with the licensing regarding DirectX?
