      "Bandslam" it's called...

I was confined to the basement for most of the morning because I didn't feel like getting up, and my sister was watching it on the TV right in front of me. Bad movie, bad acting, terrifyingly cheesy and cringeworthy. What do you expect with Disney actors and actresses, though? =/

Managed to get up and put Limitless in later, which was awesome.

      Shutter Island.
The ending.. I haven't seen that coming.

Leonardo Dicaprio is such a great actor.

Oh, that movie was super confusing for me. But the ending was vital to the entire movie making any remote sense XD

It had some pretty good moments.

Now, I'm getting caught up in watching A Time To Kill, again, since it's on tv.

In context, "Daddy, I'm sorry I dropped the groceries" has got to be one of the most heart-breaking lines in movie history.

I liked Paul. Not as good as the other two movies, but it was okay. I thought Paul himself was really original and funny.

The Hole. Really mediocre. It might be okay for a YA audience, but it was just unoriginal and poorly crafted: very Scooby Doo meets After-school Special.

Source Code. It was kinda interesting. ...Kinda. I felt like the science in the movie was pretty glossed-over, and settled on kind of a "quantum physics did it" generalization, without actually going deep enough to make it believable. I liked the premise, but it really wasn't anything new. (Groundhog Day; Supernatural, Season 3 Episode: 'Mystery Spot''; Etc.) Michelle Monaghan was gorgeous, but there was just something really odd about her character (or her portrayal of it?), that really annoyed me. Also, the scientist who was 'explaining' the whole Source Code concept to Gyllenhaal almost made me facepalm, with his over-dramatic, trying-too-hard-to-be-suspenseful, audio-book narrator type of tone. Even the ending seemed a little too 'Mickey Mouse.'

With all that being said, I'm really not sure whether I can say I liked the movie or not. I guess I was just expecting a little more.

Thor. I liked it quite a bit. There were a lot of "Blah, I guess the special effects were pretty cool" reactions when it was out in theaters, but seriously, what more could you want from a Thor movie? Between Thor and Captain America, I'm actually a little excited about the The Avengers again.

Been on a super-hero kick, for the past few days, myself. Watched Captain America, Thor and X-Men Origins: Wolverine again. This was actually the first time I had seen Wolverine with all of the special effects having been finished. I had seen the bootleg leak of the unfinished version so many times that I just wasn't in any rush to see the finished copy, that much. It was nice to see all of the effects fully rendered, though.

Duncan Jones can do no wrong for me after Moon, and the ending I think wasn't as syrupy sweet as you believe.

There are a lot of theories on how actual time travel works (since it is basically proven as a real thing, just we are physically incapable of it at the moment), and one is that if we change the past, we don't alter our future but create a schism universe where that alteration is true. I think that's what happened there. It's a sad ending because it wasn't his real life. When he called his father I came pretty close to losing it.

Yeah, I got the whole 'branching off into parallel universes' concept, but there was just something about the way it was described that bothered me. Maybe it was because it's such a huge concept that I just feel it wasn't really given justice. And that one scientist's tone was just so damned campy and dramatic that it really took me out of that whole scene. I did get (but almost forgot about) the tragedy of him talking to his father. That was good stuff. It wasn't that the ending wasn't without some level of tragedy. It's just that (given his 'current state'), it was the best possible outcome of his situation, and it was completely predictable.

Not a bad movie, though, by any means. I'm sure I'll give it another go.

I didn't realize Source Code was by the same director as Moon--if I'd gone in with that knowledge, I would have been seriously underwhelmed. As is, I read a couple reviews on IMDB and went in expecting schlock, and got moderately more charming schlock than I anticipated.

      Inception, my favourite movie.

The end always makes me cry. , that's unfair!
When I'm thinking about it, I haven't seen one movie with Leonardo Dicaprio without crying, haha!

Special thanks to Darkmatters for my signature picture.

      Leonardo DiCaprio is a genius.

Unrelated - I watched Middle Men a couple of nights ago.
It's about the guys who basically created porn on the internet and it's
got that main actor from Idiocracy. 7/10 for movie. 10/10 for just telling the story of how it began.

Also saw Mary & Max for the second time but I forgot to post here. 10/10
It's an absolutely stunning movie. It's animated in claymation or maybe 3D.
Sad and funny and just a really nice story.

Yeah it's claymation, directed by Adam Elliott.
